What do you think about the outlaw biker movies
Like the ones from the hippie times like Hellcats, Sidehackers, the ones with Peter Fonda. I don't know what to say, they dont really have legs the way the other ones like the other mini genres do.

Some can be entertaining, especially for spotting the guys who went on to better things (Bruce Dern, for example). I still like Wild Angels, but most of them have better promos than plots. I was really disappointed in The Losers; as a kid, the idea of bikers tearing up the jungles in Vietnam seemed really cool. The results were, let's say, less than stellar.
Picked up Werewolves on Wheels (I think that's the title)...does that qualify as an outlaw biker film?
I thought the first Billy Jack film (Born Losers) was pretty decent although seems that a lot of Billy Jack fans aren't aware that it's the same basic character (I think he's just called "Billy" in BL).
to William Smith: King of the Biker films.

Roger Corman's THE WILD ANGELS holds up very well, but I'm not sure about any of the others. I used to see them all on a local channel back in the 1970s (DEVIL'S ANGELS, REBEL ROUSERS, RUN ANGEL RUN, THE LOSERS, HELLS ANGELS '69, CHROME AND HOT LEATHER, BORN LOSERS, HELL'S BELLES, MINI-SKIRT MOB, GLORY STOMPERS, etc.), but I've only revisited the Corman film. It's not like having Spaghetti Western phases which tended to recur and even persisted into the 21st century.

Re: What do you think about the outlaw biker movies
It's a "dated" sub genre much the way a western is even though that continues while the other does not. To get back to this little topic… the guy behind Manos: The Hands of Fate was set to make his own biker flick Wild Desert Bikers but fell through from no investors, so he was to turn the script into a novel. If anyone with half a brain could figure this out go out and FIND THIS MANUSCRIPT!!! Finding this, and making a movie out of it could give a resurgence to this genre!!!!

Never cared for this genre. They don't hold up well for me. They're very much a collection of films that probably had more value in the period than in the contemporary.
They just don't come off as badass as what history makes the crazy bikers I've read about.

"Easy Rider" is a classic that holds up. And the grandfather and archetype of outlaw biker movies is worth watching ... Marlon Brando's "The Wild One".
