Woody Allen collections
For the past couple weeks I've been eying the "Woody Allen Collection, Sets 1-3" at Amazon, 19 films for $73.49, their lowest price ever. Particularly with the rumor of a Hitchcock-esque, Bond-esque Blu-Ray boxed set for Woody Allen's films currently up in smoke, this set is a no-brainer for many reasons. But would anybody who already owns these sets or done the homework give me a more subjective opinion? How many films aren't anamorphic? (Annie Hall is one.) Are any of the prints really lacking in quality? Etc. Thanks for any insights.

Its a decent set. Its worth owning to have his work. A lot of the prints aren't the greatest. I don't know if youll get anything better. I've been hoping for Criterion releases with the MGM deal...but who knows.

Re: Woody Allen collections
A better option might be the UK 20 disc Woody Allen Collection for £30.00, includes an anamorphic version of Annie Hall, and 1 extra film not in the US set. (Melinda and Melinda)

Thanks for the comments. I buy a fair number of DVD's from the UK, but that collection was apparently too new to be on my radar. Nice to have options, and cheap ones, too, if the print quality is variable. One downside I just realized: many/most of these DVD's originally came with liner notes, which I'm sure are not included with current pressings.
