Wow. I was pretty disappointed in part 2, but part 3 was so much better. Lynch was killer, Jerry was great (I'll never get used to that haircut) and part of me thinks the end of Act I was a nod to Arrested Development, though I have no way of proving it.
It was a fitting end to it all, and I guess I've been living in a cave, because I had no idea that Louie CK really had once been exiled from The Late Show. His hostility at the end almost felt a little too genuine.

It's been awhile since I laughed as hard as I did when David Lynch stared a Louie for a few seconds and said "you've earned yourself another week" after Louie was dancing around making farting noises.
Funniest moment on the show this season.

For me the funniest part was when Lynch looked over to the agent, who had been invisible for the entire scene, and said "I'd like for you to leave this room now."
I literally busted out laughing.
While the repetitive 'I'm dopey Louie and I'm finding this hard to do. I don't have the confidence and etc' routine wore thin during him going through this, the payoff of the 'three rules', Seinfeld lying to him, and Louie killing it in the clutch kind of made it worthwhile.
I liked the three episode arc. The guest stars were all terrific. Lynch was excellent.

Yeah, I actually liked the late night Louie show. I hope they actually taped an entire show and it shows up as an extra on the DVD.
I'm not sure if Seinfeld lied to make Louie feel bad and bomb or if he did it to make him more at ease, knowing he now had nothing to lose.

Can you expand on this? It's hard to google since everything is about the episode arc.

From a 2011 Esquire interview:
He was booked about a month after the interview was published. But for whatever reason, he was never asked to be on from 1995-2011.
LCK: I really like Jay, and he's always invited me to come on. They don't have me on Letterman anymore.
SR: Why?
LCK: I don't know. I haven't been on Letterman in 15 years. I loved doing that show. Dave's my favorite. Dave's who I watch — I wrote for him. And I did the show five times or so, and I've been told that I'm not okay there anymore.
SR: There has to be a reason.
LCK: No one would tell me.

Lynch was great and completely unexpected, but the season was a letdown for me. Still on board for next year.

This season has been like a completely different show than the one I started watching and found hilarious. Even the change of the intro and theme song. I dunno, the show is just a bit of a downer now.

The show has always been a bit of a downer, but I think since it's such a cheap show to produce and Louis CK is in control of the entire thing, he gets to go where his mind goes.
There was an article a while back about how the show is funny in spite of itself - it doesn't really try to be funny, it just happens when it does. IMO, it's what makes the show so unique.

I didn't know that was the season finale, bummer. I think this season was a bit disappointing, the only one I really liked was the Miami episode. I think this season really needed Pamela Adlon. She was so good last season.

Loved the episode. Loved the arc. I've loved the season. Pure genius. Oh sure, the show takes a few swings and misses, but overall it's the best show on television. And I loved late nite Louie.

Apparently, it starts a half hour earlier than normal for the 1-hour finale.
Louie's had 1-hour episodes in the past.

I liked this season quite a bit. It's a different animal from season two, but that's a good thing. I loved this three-episode arc and Lynch stole the show. Louis shouting outside of Letterman's theater at the end was perfect.

I think I saw Louie on Letterman in 2011 where he did a stand up routine and a interview. Wonder if Letterman watched this show?
Lynch should win a Emmy for his performance.
It looks like Amy Poehler might be appearing in the season finale.

I'm really interested in the behind the scenes on this one, too. If Letterman wasn't in on this, I imagine CK will never be back on. My guess would be this was actually pitched to Letterman and he thought it was hilarious. If so, that would be pretty awesome.
