I think this show is improving with each episode, but I'm getting tired of every episode ending with one member of the group making a sacrifice or embarrassing themselves and the rest of the group following them.
Zooey and Cece were both great.

I agree. Best ep yet, and the dead woman in the apartment was truly shocking. Did not see that coming. Usually Justin Long makes me change the channel, but he was put to good use here. Too bad he's just a stepping stone to a Jess / Nick storyline I hope never happens.

They need to hold off on the Jess/Nick thing for as long as they can.
But great episode. Loved Cece mindfucking with Schmidt lol

Man I freakin love this show. I'm sure Justin Long is only slumming for a few episodes, but he was perfect. No one plays an oddball geek like he does. I hope he sticks around for a little bit. There's some really fantastic chemistry between the actors in this show.

Very fun holiday themed episode. This show doesn't make me laugh out loud, but I do smile alot. The cast chemistry is improving each week.
at Cece trying to antagonize Schmidt messing with the pudding.
I liked Justin Long alot as the prospective new boyfriend for Jess. He was just as goofy as Jess.
For those here who are in the LA area, that Best Buy in the last scene is in West Los Angeles on Pico Blvd. It's basically a few miles away from the FOX lot.

I felt the opposite of everyone, I hated Justin Long in this. Loved Zooey on the floor with the turkey though, as well as the names (since that's something me and my girlfriend do)

Busted out laughing at the cutaway shot of the turkey in the dryer. I was a part of a Thanksgiving once where we couldn't get the turkey to thaw fast enough and ended up eating like 6 hours later than we planned. I could relate
This was a great episode - the show continues to get better week after week and my wife and I are loving it.

That was a ginourmous turkey. No clue what a real turkey that size would weigh, but my guess would be 50 pounds.

This show I do laugh out loud at, because unlike the majority of the shows I watch where if something is funny it's more "that's clever" funny, so it's more of a smile and an acknowledgment of what was funny, but not a straight up laugh. "New Girl" is funny for the sake of being funny, and I laugh and love it.

While I don't care too much for Justin Long, I thought this episode had some great moments (Jess hugging the turkey, turkey in the dryer, Winston knowing the names of both grandfathers of Nick).
When Cece initially mashed the potato in Schmidt's face, I genuinely thought they were going to down the traditional road by using a food fight as the flirting method since that is how any red-blooded male would react to such an opening. At least that's what the writers have done every other time they set up such a scenario. Him immediately spazzing out and referencing how her actions were not in the cook book instructions and Cece actually getting turned on by that was a hilarious unexpected twist. His hygiene issues and calling her a "beautiful savage" took it down a completely different road.

Is this the latest commentary ("clever versus funny") that is being made on sitcoms lately? Just curious because I've heard it a couple of times, not including this post.
Two and a half Men, Big Bang Theory, shows like that I'll see the random episode of and while it's a good enough time waster if there's nothing on, I don't regularly watch either of them.
Most of the time it's a case of leaving the TV on a channel waiting for the show after the sitcom. I'll be waiting for "Person of Interest" and see that Rules of Engagement or something is on, and I sit there wondering why the hell it's even on television at all.
I guess I just miss older sitcoms from the 80s and 90s compared to the ones of today. To each their own. What was funny then isn't funny now, and what's funny now would have never made it to air then, etc, etc and so on.
Long story short, my comment about "clever funny" was a coincidence? I've never seen a full episode of Community, just happened to see a few minutes here and there. Never read a thread about it.
I was referring to the semi-serious shows that aren't sitcoms but have funny moments like Castle and Bones.

I wouldn't know. I don't watch sitcoms because every time I see one and check it out, I just don't find it funny. I just sit there and ask "what about this is supposed to be funny?" because I'm clearly missing something.
