Re: Community -- "Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps" -- 10/27/11

This episode was sort of 'meh' for me. The Halloween stories weren't all that funny, but I guess that was sort of the point? I thought the stuff in the study room was much better though, particularly the final scenes; the looks on the characters' faces during this episode were great.

Loved how Britta Britta'd Britta.

I get the irony that Abed is the only sane one in the group, but I think it might've been funnier to have Jeff's test be the only sane one since he just randomly filled out the bubbles. Although I guess they sort of covered Jeff being insane when they talked about him randomly filling in the bubbles.

I loved Annie's and Pierce's stories. I was hoping for a Killer Chang, glad that happened!

Not as good as last year but a pretty entertaining episode.

Clever is not funny. Every episode this season has been much more clever than funny .... and Remedial Chaos Theory has been the only clever episode. That doesn't leave much funny.

I thought it was a pretty good episode. Lot's of little gags like the radio news announcement spoken through Britta telling the story.

I thought it was funny. Loved the "Troy and Abed stuck together" story.

Also, the last lines of the show killed me too. "Wow, can't believe you Britta'd 'Britta'd'. Yeah, you really pulled an Abed. Shirley, stop Piercing".

Re: Community -- "Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps" -- 10/27/11

I think this one really suffered from the reshuffling of episodes 3 and 4. I thought it was ok, but Chaos Theory was the far superior episode and given their similar structures, imo, they should not have come back to back.

I laughed quite a bit at the first half of the episode, but I thought it lost steam as it went on. I was slightly distracted while watching though, so I'll have to rewatch.

I am getting a bit tired of the dean. I've been rewatching the first season recently and I really appreciate how much more subtle his character was back then. It was obvious that he was strange and had some bizarre fetishes, but now they just wheel him out there each week in a different woman's costume and expect that to be enough. It's too bad because I think Jim Rash is really funny.

Overall, I thought this was decent, but was the weakest of the 3 Halloween episodes the series has done.

I enjoyed this one plenty. Liked the call back to last season's halloween episode when Troy said he heard there as going to be free taco meat at the dance.

I loved Abed and Troy's Inspector Spacetime and the Constable costumes. It was great to see a call back to that.

What happened to Johm Goodman? He was in the first episode and now he's gone?

He's only doing like I think 6 episodes. So that subplot will be spaced out.

That and Abed humming the entire song (and Troy smiling/dancing along to it) were great little gags that got a big laugh out of me.

I forgot about the radio announcer in Britta's story. That had me rolling.

Yeah, the cast of Community has a photo spread in EW this week. Allison in the Phoebe Cates bikini =

Also, for anyone on Facebook, you can go to TV Guide Magazine's page and vote for the next TV Guide cover. Community is one of the choices.

Wasn't a fan of this episode, though I've enjoyed most of this season thus far.

That was great. I enjoyed the episode. Hard to top last year's Halloween episode and last week's Chaos episode, but it was still enjoyable.

I agree that these two gimmick episodes should have not been shown back to back. Also, Remedial Chaos Theory was hilarious. The Rube Goldberg machine when Troy went to get the pizza and Annie's slapstick pratfall were classic.

Britta starting to sing Roxanne in every version and getting shut down by Jeff with the ultimate payoff being that they actually start dancing to the song in the last version where Jeff goes to get the pizza also had me cracking up.

This is why I love "Community": They take three seasons to build up to a joke that almost no one noticed. "Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!":

Can someone give me the "blocked at work" recap of that joke?
