Some decent martial arts fight chereography aside, I thought this episode sucked like Johnny Cage 2 weeks ago. It does however setup Kitana wanting to get revenge on Shao Khan...through the tournament I guess? It was shot way too dark and I didn't mind the cheap looking anime last week to set up this segment, but they used too much of it this week.

Yeah, this was terrible. And not in a cute, campy way. Hopefully we won't have to see much more of this.
Where's Sub-Zero!?!

The problem with the animated sequences is that there's no rhyme or reason to their usage. They're clearly trying to emulate Kill Bill without realizing that switching to animation was effective their since it was a whole segment rather than random scenes.

damn, I can't even finish this. The series started off good, but it's pretty much garbage now.
The hook for me when the "trailer" came out a while ago was the realism / Seven / Saw-style and feel. Even the series started off that way with Jax and Kano.
But now, the series has basically turned into cut scenes that easily could have been made for any new MK game. Yes, I know the budget doesn't allow them to do a lot of stuff, but that's not what hooked me originally.
I like MK, but I don't want to see "video game-style" cut scenes

Apparently next week's episode is Raiden according to the director's Twitter feed.
This is the actor who is playing Raiden:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0730455/ He stars on the SyFy show Sanctuary.

Off topic (well sort of) but i still find it amusing that the guy directing these shorts is directing the Glee concert movie

I ran across the 1995 MK movie on TV yesterday. It is still the best video game movie to date.
It still gives me chills when Scorpion and Sub-Zero make their entrance.

I liked the beginning of the Cage episode, mostly because it was "realistic" - or something that we are likely to see in our everyday lives. Like I said before, that original web short hooked me because it was "realistic"
But these back-to-back episodes have done nothing for me. Even the 1995 movie Kitana was far hotter..haha
