Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Lucrezia is deeply disappointed to discover her real mother has been banned from her wedding to Giovanni Sforza, whom she's never met. Meanwhile, Della Rovere goes to Florence to broker a deal with the powerful Medici family and meets with their adviser Machiavelli. At the wedding reception, the bride's brothers Juan and Cesare create serious breaches of etiquette, with the latter causing a scene by dancing and flirting with an influential baron's wife.

Well, it's an actual picture and not some shitty photoshop job. What, would you rather see the entire cast standing in front of a church looking bored?

Didn't she confess to him about having an affair?

It's just that Irons looks so haggard in it. I can't believe the network would use it.

I'm liking this show a lot. I dig the costumes, the sets, the way they speak. A bummer it's only 9 episode.

Needs more nudity. Little flashes here and there from Lucrezia and Giulia just won't cut it.

If it's on premium TV all the hot female leads need to be topless for the series.

For me No Boobs = No sale unless it's a comedy that's funny as fuck.

Re: The Borgias -- "Lucrezia's Wedding" -- 4/17/11

That was one pissed-off looking groom. I knew that wasn't going to be a fun honeymoon for Lucrezia.

Now me -- I would love that kind of wedding reception. The Catholic weddings I've been to are certainly nothing like that.

I have to admit - I'm confused too. I thought she was his mistress, so I couldn't figure out why she would his companion at the wedding. Plus why did his wife have to be in hiding?

She was (is?) married to one of the Pope's relatives and now she's his mistress.

It's actually on right now. Does your cable service have Showtime West? If so, it's on again in 20 minutes.

Re: The Borgias -- "Lucrezia's Wedding" -- 4/17/11

I'm enjoying it, but there's one thing that really bugs me. The lighting. The lighting is really bad. Not aesthetically unpleasing, because it's pretty, but it makes the show look totally fake. Half the time, during daytime scenes there is this really fake-looking golden orange glow all over everything. It makes the backgrounds look even more CGI than they should.

Also, night scenes indoors are absurdly well-lit. You see four candles in this large cavernous room yet all the people are lit perfectly as if there's a big old spotlight on them.

The wedding scene is guilty of this too. It's daytime, and you've got some windows up high by the ceiling. Cool. Looks like a realistic Renaissance ballroom... but instead of the shafts of blue-white sunlight being obviously the only possible source of light in this room, and the shadows that would come from being indoors hundreds of years before the discovery of electricity, once again everyone from every angle is flatly lit by big perfect movie lights.

I know this seems like a nitpicky kind of thing, and of course there is a place for style. But this isn't a stylistic choice, a la David Fincher who uses unrealistic lighting and color for an effect. It's just plain old boring TV lighting that doesn't fit in with the time period, and makes the whole show look totally fake. The Tudors, at least, while not Kubrick-perfect, TRIED to make the lighting scheme somewhat believable. It really pulls me out of the story.

She used to be a prostitute. Not someone a noble would want at their wedding.

Yet a noble would want to marry the daughter of a whore? Doesn't make much sense to me.
