From Italy to Canada

hi...
I just move from Italy to Canada, and i have with me some Bluray disk (pal).

I m buying a 3D tv, probably samsung (ntsc of course) and i would like to buy a 3D Bluray reader where i can play also my italian Bluray and in the future 3D PAL movie.
Can someone help me please making the right choice?

Re: From Italy to Canada

Italy is "Region B" and Canada is "Region A." You will need to check the discs themselves to see if they are locked to Region B, or if they are region free.
This means you will need a player that can play both regions. They are pretty uncommon but read through the following thread to see what's available:

Otherwise, you could use a computer/laptop with a Blu-ray drive and purchase the AnyDVD HD software and ArcSoft Total Media Theatre software to play your Italian discs. This solution most likely is NOT 3D compatible, though.

thanks... yes use my computer is a good idea except the fact i cant read 3D movies.
Is the computer quality the same than a bluray reader?

Re: From Italy to Canada

the 3D kinda makes it harder...

In your situation I would buy a 3D region A BR player and a "conventional" region B player with a power converter.

Which is what I kinda did this summer, tired of waiting for a multiregion BR player, I bought a LG BR player in France with the converter it cost me less than 150$ I use the PS3 for my region A BRs and region 1 DVDs and the LG for the region B BRs and region 2 DVDs (don't like to rely on only 1 machine)
