The Comedy Central Roast --> "David Hasselhoff" --> 8/15/10

airs @ 10pm EST on Comedy Central. 94min.

i find some of these to be raunchy and sometimes hilarious. i love the stuff they get away with on CC and i am not big on raunchy and such graphic language, but i will be taping the later night airing.

i know it isn't Live, but anyone know if later airings would be censored more than the intial? i doubt it would be, but wasn't sure if i would miss anything on later airing since i watch Mad Men at 10pm.

anyone else playing on watching or taping?

They were showing some "Best of" Clips from previous roasts last night on Comedy Central and I found them pretty damn funny. I was shocked at the really graphic language used.

the whole thing is like that. i think i saw the Bob Saget one and it was just unbelievable. what really surprises me are the people who really have no business being there and everyone makes the WTF jokes, but they turn out to be the best. Cloris Leachman doing her thing at Saget's was nothing short of remarkable.

Skip the 10:00pm premiere airing and tape one of the early morning repeats. From past experience, they'll have less bleeps. I'm tivo'ing the 2:42am airing with some padding.

Re: The Comedy Central Roast --> "David Hasselhoff" --> 8/15/10

An hour in and all I have to say so far is....."meh". Probably the worst Comedy Central roast. Definitely the worst line up of roasters. Come on, George Hamilton? Jerry fucking Springer!? And I like Lisa Lapanelli on these things. Because I can only take her in small doses. But I'm even getting tired of her on these. Side note about her, she says a lot lately "now that I'm thin...". Um, no you're not. You just grew you're hair longer. You're still a big lady.

Who, Whitney Cummings!? I was just coming here to say she has been the best thing on here. She's freaking hilarious. "Lisa Lapanelli, your vagina is like a bad movie. It opens wide and has all the Wayan Brothers in it".

Yeah, that was fairly lame. Usually the person being roasted has a pretty good set, but whoever wrote for Hasselhoff is awful.

Cummings and Giraldo were the best.

Definitely thought she had the line of the roast with her 'why don't you save yourself some time and drink a vat of Magic Johnson's blood'.

What is the point of these things? Isnt a roast supposed to be done by your friends and peers? I highly doubt Hasselhoff has ever even met 95% of these people.

Yeah, but a roast by the late night Wendy's staff and one of the guys who played Hobie probably wouldn't bring the funny.

Whitney Cummings was the best.

Wasn't Lisa Lampanelli in one of those early seasons of Last Comic Standing? Did she gain a lot of weight since then?

Remember when celebrity roasts were actually funny, and showed the affection/friendship the celebs had for each other?

Now they are nothing more than deliberately mean-spirited, raunchy one-upmanship.

At first, this was one of the reasons I liked these roasts, but the jokes started to become stale and repetitive to me. Which is why I absolutely loved Norm MacDonald's roast he did on Bob Saget. Pretty much making fun of what these roasts have become.

I think many of you guys are confusing the Comedy Central Roast with the NY Friar's Club Roast

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Friars%27_Club

The CC one is just a ripoff of the NY one.

Re: The Comedy Central Roast --> "David Hasselhoff" --> 8/15/10

I've got to go against the grain here and say that I didn't find this funny at all. It was just hacks saying nasty things about a hack and you could almost smell the desperation coming off the TV. The "humor" was basically just shockingly crude statements as opposed to well thought out jokes. The thing is, when all anybody says is shockingly rude stuff...it stops becoming shocking and is just boring and predictable. Pam Anderson is a whore, Lampanelli is fat, everybody else is washed up. Hilarious?

Also, does Lampanelli have any material other than having sex with black guys and making fun of her appearance? You could splice in any footage from her in the past ten years and it would be the same shit.

But maybe I'm missing the point. The fact that these "comics" are at this roast is pretty much acknowledging that their career is a joke.

Finally, I wonder who forced Seth MacFarlane to do this shit? It's not like he needed the money and even though I don't like his style of comedy, he's better than that.

Re: The Comedy Central Roast --> "David Hasselhoff" --> 8/15/10

I didn't find this roast to be particularly funny. Usually the late night airing don't have the same censorship the 10 PM showings do. I don't think it would have made a difference as this one barely made me laugh compared to the Saget, Shatner and Pam Anderson's roasts.

Nice to hear William Daniels "KITT" Voice again.
