Why does Bodhi have Johnny Utah help rob the bank unmasked?

Now Ive see Point Break a million times and it keeps getting better everytime I see it, but I saw it again and made the mistake of thinking. So I wondered, why did he rob the bank at the end? Didnt Bodhi just want to get away? Thats why he had Tyler right? What was the point of having Johnny rob the bank; just to ruin his career? Also, he got a cop killed not to mention his own damn partner; yet was allowed to keep his badge and go after Bodhi a few months later?

I guess you'd have to go to a Point Break convention to find out.

Lame, movie fans... lame.

Though I kinda thought what Dan brings up, it was never really layed out. IE "Help us rob this bank and we'll let Tyler go" They just say shes insurance.

Watched this yet again just last week. The way i have always seen it is that Bodhi wants him to feel the rush and also at the same time to wreck his career. Maybe even give the impression that Utah is deeper in with the gang than he is letting on to his police colleagues.

Great movie and without a doubt the single best foot chase in movie history.

I always thought it was to set him up and ruin his career. Making the FBI think that he got "sucked in" to the gang or something like that.

Yeah, this movie gets a lot of hate, but I quite enjoy it.

this....

it's not a deep film. Don't look too deep into something that's not deep.

He was probably thinking "if I'm gonna to get caught, I want to get caught comfortable."

Cool, I dig it. I just wondered why did Johnny do it. I dont think it was mentioned as part of that Tyler insurance policy. Its like they just took him and said 'do this with us' and johnny though 'whoa, ok!'

And I still dont get how he kept his badge! I was thinking he was part of the Australia police force
