Help! XBox 360 E73 error
Alan Wake (the game I've been waiting for) is coming out in a couple of weeks, and wouldn't you know it...E73 error!
I have a Halo Edition 360 that I bought the day it came out. I think that means it is past the warantee, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions besides paying Microsoft more money (I think it's $150)?

Answer: general hardware error caused specifically by the ethernet port.
I'm fighting the urge to smash this pos with a baseball bat.

Re: Help! XBox 360 E73 error
Just to follow up:
Error E73 is a hardware error that is covered under the 1 year warranty only.
The charge to fix the console is $119.99 which includes shipping and repair, but not a box to ship it in. I also get another year of warranty coverage from the date of repair.

Re: Help! XBox 360 E73 error
According to an electrical engineer on another forum it's an internal issue. The soldering on the board containing the ethernet port melts off breaking the connection. This is one reason stopping the fans with toothpicks sometimes works for this error. As the Xbox heats up more solder melts and reconnects the ethernet port. What an incredibly poor design job by Microsoft. And we get to pay for it.

UPDATE:
My replacement Halo Edition 360 arrived 15 minutes ago. It looks brand new, but who knows. Also, they threw in a 1 month Live Gold card. How generous...
