The Battle for Late Night 4/27/10

A 2 hour special on A&E about the history of the late night shows. It re-airs May 1 at 1PM

An intresting show. It's less about the light night wars and more about the history of late night tv. However they spent most of the series talking about the 90s (a good chunk of time on the first war) and a half hour talking about 2000 onward(I'm not kidding. I checked it was 3:29 when they reached 2001, skipping over 2000). In the end only managed to spend about 6 minutes on 2010 while alluding to the 2010 war the entire episode. The have one guy talking about how Coco is Fox's last chance to create a late night while at the same time showing a screenshot of a news article about Coco going to TBS
It's 2 hours long but it still could have used another half hour to an hour to flesh it out. As by the end you can tell they relized they have 10 years to cover in 30 minutes and just start rapid fire going through 2001-2010. By the end interviews become shorter or non existent. Colbert recived about 1 minutes worth of coverage without even talking with him same with fallon. They talk for about 30 seconds about Lopez tonight but don't even interview him about it even through they keep going back to him to get his opinion on everything. Not to mention once they got to bill maher they kept going back to talk about him every 5 minutes, oh look he says whatever he the hell is on his mind, oh look he got fired for that, oh look he is back on the air. The show held right up till then. If you wanna watch about the history of late night in the 90s then it's a good show but otherwise....
