The Amazing Race 16 -- "Cathy Drone?" -- 03/21/10

The Amazing Race 16

The race continues tonight in France.

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
The teams continue to race in France, where they must pour champagne into stacked glasses without them falling. One team travels to the wrong city to complete a Detour, and one pair use duct tape to repair their faltering car.

Warning to East Coast Viewers! Strong Possibility you will need to pad due to NCAA Basketball coverage on CBS.

Pad a lot, ET/CT viewers. At least an hour. Basketball won't end until 7:30 at the earliest.

The Big Brother girl and the Miss South Carolina are 2 of the dumbest people I've ever seen on television (or anywhere else). But at least the BB chick seems to be a likable person while spending a day with the Miss SC would suck out your soul. She acts, interacts, and talks like a junior-high girl.

I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt about that whole Miss Teen USA thing. Maybe she got caught or confused in the moment. There's no doubt anymore. She's more than a bit of a shrew...not that he's any prize either. Chances of their relationship working out long term...0%.

She's had cameras on her 24/7 so it's a known fact that Jordan can have her nasty side too, but by and large what you saw on the Amazing Race is pretty much her.

Watching this show, I'm just amazed that the models have made it this far. Although, as a whole, it appears that this season's cast isn't the brightest cast that they've had on TAR.

The champagne class challenge was a pretty cool challenge though. Pretty amazing that the brothers did it on the first shot.

I thought they actually had to do the math and figure out how to make a 15 story pyramid? The bothers made a 13 story one and just stacked 2 glasses on top. I guess that made it a little easier.

Yeah that's what I thought that had to do as well but nobody seemed to be checking the total number of glasses, just how many levels it had. Makes it a lot easier than having to use all 608 glasses.

Re: The Amazing Race 16 -- "Cathy Drone?" -- 03/21/10

Well, J&J are out, but I don't think their hearts have been in it the last 2 legs. They seem very tired and don't think they can catch up.

In their defense, while they still made mistakes, these last couple legs are some of the first ones in a while where teams don't all get bunched up at some point. The order has almost stayed the same, give a position or two.

I wish they'd had everyone bunch up before the last episode so it could have been a real footrace.

This padding shit is really pissing me off. All I got is about 15 minutes of the show. Now I will have to find other means to watch this episode.

You have to know by now that Sunday night CBS is a mine field, especially NCAA time, football time, Masters and other golf events. Basically year round you have to at least pad or record the show after.

Yeah, every season when I set my Season Pass for The Amazing Race, I pad it by 1.5 hours. That's a given for Sunday nights on CBS.

It will be on CBS.com later tonight. I don't know how often you visit this forum, but I warned everyone about the NCAA Tournament for East Coast viewers in my 1st post.

I loved the one brother complaining about how the French don't speak English very well

I'm wondering about that father/daughter team. I don't know if they're just boring or aren't given enough screen time, but until this episode's car accident, I don't think we've seen them interact or show any personality at all. I barely knew who they were and we're half way through the season.

The detectives are 3 in a row now- that's impressive.

They got good directions which really helped then, and in this case the needle in grapevine seemed easier than stacking the glasses

Good Ep

Re: The Amazing Race 16 -- "Cathy Drone?" -- 03/21/10

The father/daughter team is the only one left that I want to win. I'm a big fan, but this is probably the worst season, cast wise, that I recall.

Jeff and Jordan were horrible and that is coming from someone who liked them 95% of the time during BB and was thrilled Jordan won. Jordan is just ridiculously dimwitted. She's also really, really genuine, nice, and very cute. But I can't see those two lasting. I got the feeling they were just milking the attention and money or just free stuff that they get for being popular with the public. If you didn't see BB, just don't think Jeff's much better. He's really not that much more intelligent than she is, he just has more common sense and streets smarts. Did Jordan ever do anything alone or did Jeff do everything? I'm already forgetting this season.

The cowboys are ok, but I'll be rooting for them a lot more now that J/J are gone, because one or both of them and the father/daughter needs to be in the final 3 for me to care at all.

You gotta give it up for duct taping a car together.

I'll miss Jordan:

Jordan: "Joan of Arc? He carried all the animals."
Jeff: "He? That was Noah!"

Re: The Amazing Race 16 -- "Cathy Drone?" -- 03/21/10

I have to wonder why CBS even bothers with Sunday evening programming. They seem to be the only network willing to throw their entire night off. At least join 60 minutes in progress or something.

Oh well, at least now that J&J are out I can stop watching. I don't care enough about anybody left to endure this padding nonsense and blurry SD.

60 Minutes still gets solid ratings. No chance they'll join that in progress.

Re: The Amazing Race 16 -- "Cathy Drone?" -- 03/21/10

CBS had at least 12 million viewers per primetime show last night and easily won every timeslot.

I would seriously doubt they'll change how they do things on Sundays.

I warned people 3 weeks ago. Sunday evening is one of the biggest tv nights and 60 Minutes has been a mainstay - no way they are going to F with that. Hard to believe that regular viewers still haven't learned yet.

And again....people better pad the next week (basketball regional finals) and in 3 weeks (The Masters).

That Tattinger woman must have been annoyed at all those people coming to the wrong place.

Props to the gay bros. for accomplishing that glass detour. I figured nobody would be able to do that.

I was when the other's teams came crashing and seeing their reactions.
