What do you think is the "perfect" movie?

sponsored by Original Desmond's T1 and T2 thread...

of course "perfect" is subjective, so when we think and discuss it is simply a movie that every characteristic, movie element, etc. just came together for a symphony of movie greatness (in your mind).

It doesn't have to be your favorite of all-time, but one where elements of the movie-making process came together and worked magnificently.

so, what movie, do you think, has nearly every element that makes the movie great and in your mind, simply perfect?

not my all-time favorite (up there, of course), but first that i realized how great, story, acting, cinematography, and all other elements came together so perfectly. The Third Man a near second.

Do you not search at all when you start a thread?

But I agree with Groucho.

The Godfather is a perfect movie, IMO.

I do not like the Godfather at all.

Deal with it.

Nope, sorry, not a perfect film. It has one huge flaw:

At :30, Caan's pulled punch misses Gianni Russo's face by at least 8 inches.

funny. I noticed that the 1st time I ever saw that which was on DVD btw. Looks like a foot. Huge ass gap...wonder why Coppola kept that in and not another take. Maybe it just looked better overall.

I just was thinking about this the other night while watching The Fifth Element. I'd say that it is pretty close in my view. Of course, that doesn't preclude many other perfect movies from existing.

Are you kidding? Chris Tucker is one of the most annoying things ever to be put on the big screen and he is god awful in this movie. The movie is really thin as well really. It looks nice but has almost nothing beneath the surface.

The Godfather i like, but i think its very long and rather tiresome.

I think that for me maybe Goodfellas is a perfect movie. Never feels long, zips along, great acting by everyone, great story, great soundtrack, very well written and superbly directed. I am also Bladerunner fan number one and for me that is a perfect movie (the Final Cut).

Chris Tucker didn't ruin that movie completely, but he sure tried his best.

Wizard of Oz.

Great performances. Production values and effects that stand the test of time. Some of the best music ever put to film. I've seen it countless times, and am never bored with it.
