See I dunno about performances. The Tin Man, Lion, and Scarecrow I think were better acted than Dorthy's. She had the look and singing skills which was important but acting wise I'm never surprised by Garland in WoZ.

Not to say that it is the greatest film of all time, but I am not coming up with any notable flaws in Michael Clayton.
FWIW, I continue to enjoy Chris Tucker in The Fifth Element, so my judgment is questionable.

I really enjoyed Michael Clayton and it is a very good movie, however IMO the big flaw in it is Tilda Swinton. I just find her unwatchable.

She is actually phenomenal in the movie, and one of the most gifted actresses alive.
Also, it is scientific fact, that the most perfect film ever made is Ace in the Hole.

What continues to surprise me when I watch the film is just how good Sydney Pollack (RIP) was in it. He had a fairly large role and he hit a home run.

My favorite movie of all time is West Side Story, but even I cannot say that it's perfect. Thanks to mediocre (at best) performances by the two leads.
It's a Wonderful Life - Still a teriffic movie, but not perfect because it is SO dated.
I'm leaning toward The Godfather or Die Hard.

Perfect cast, great story, masterful director, and one of the most memorable flim scores of all-time.

Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Roman Holiday, Vertigo, North by Northwest, Psycho, and Smokey and the Bandit are as close as cinema gets to perfection.

Also, to add to this thread's main topic - I'd like to add that I thought The 400 Blows was a perfect film. Viewing it was one of those rare movie experiences where I was completely blown away on every level.

Loved Ace in the Hole too.
Don't think I could choose a 'perfect' film, it depends on my mood probably. Lots of great choices mentioned here already, and I often lean towards fairly recent sci-fi films like Alien, Terminator, and The Thing.
But as GenPion just mentioned, a film often blows me away on every level, especially emotionally. Films that have really hit me hard and made lasting effects include Ordet, Au Hasard Balthazar , How Green Was My Valley, and Ben Hur.
