Alright, I already have a post about which receiver to buy (Sony) and now i have an even bigger question..
I will have 4 tall KLH speakers and so far that is it. Right now I only have my Pioneer prologic and am looking for a new Sony DD/DTS. My question is this. With my 4 KLH's I can still make use of DD but not 5.1 but I can still use DD surround with my four speakers, right?
How would it sound with just the prologic? (until I get the new receiver)
so that is my q...wiht only 4 speakers, what can I still make use of?
Thanx

Most receivers that have DD and DTS have a lot of setup features...one should be whether or not you have a center channel. If you set it to "NO" than it should devide that channel to both the left and the right speakers (I think).

Depending on your receiver, you should either have a selection for "no" or "phantom" center channel. Using this, all information that is normally routed to your center channel will instead go to your front speakers.
So, to sum up, yes, you can get surround sound. It won't be quite the same experience, granted, but it will work.

Sounds good so far, what would I get with my prologic receiver and 4 speakers..hehe...
well ill have 4 KLH's all i reall need is a center..then I wouldnt have to deal with the "phantom" mode. Maybe I should invest in a KLH center as well..after I buy the new receiver obviously.

I thought that a phantom center channel could only be used in Pro-Logic...I mean that's what Pro-Logic does. DD is 5.1 discrete channels...you would be getting 4.1 (if you have a sub)...
