DARK SPARKLES (my first Game Boy dance music EP)
(I know we have a music forum here but we have had a few chip music threads here before).

I've been working on this for six months and I'm SO glad to finally release it. If you aren't familiar with chip music, it's music made on old computer and video game hardware. I've been a fan for about twenty years (starting with the Commodore 64 crack and demo scene.. before I think it even had a label). I started writing this EP in May after attending a concert in Austin in March, getting my own copy of LSDJ for Game Boy and dropping it for being too hard for a month. It looks like I finally stuck to something though and it's finally finished!
So download it, play it as loud as possible and let me know what you think of it!

Actually, really nice. The title track is already better than anything Jessica Rylan has done.
I don't have much of a reference point though... Crystal Castles and Tree Wave are about it.

Thanks for the comments!
Actually, I designed the concept of the cover and my friend drew it (well, the girl at least, he lazily did the rest in Photoshop) but it turned out pretty much as I wanted it; and I really dig the panorama version (the back has all the text on the physical CDs I made).

I dig the chip-tune stuff. I think I'm more a fan of the chip-tune inspired stuff, like some of the groups that incorporate elements of it into their music, but this is pretty dope Pixy.
I fucks with Black Custard.

It was a great night, I got to hang out with all the musicians (was friends with Sievert and IAYD, now with Starpause too) and I passed out a bunch of physical copies of my CD and was interviewed for an upcoming website.
I took a lot of videos:

And pictures:

We should totally meet up next time.

Hmmm.. I can't download the album.
It says that I need flash installed, but I have flash installed already. Maybe I can try to re-install it.
**Edit**
Nope.. re-installed and still get same error that Adobe Flash is not installed. I hate flash and how it messes up websites like that..

I just looked at a youtube video of this LSDJ software...yeah, that shit looks crazy complex. I don't know how people can compose using it.

Shoot me a message, lcapasso/gmail, and I'll eMail it to you.
Glad to hear that!! Do you have a favorite?
Check out Anamanguchi and Starscream, they both play live instruments over chip music. Anamanaguchi plays an entire band over NES tracks and their album Dawn Metropolis is FUCKING AMAZING (http://www.dawnmetropolis.com/). Mermaid in particular is a SICK song. I'm SO glad I got to see it live (and have my CD signed by all four guys). Starscream plays live drums over Game Boy music. The song Gravity in Terms of Space-Time is really incredible (http://www.8bitpeoples.com/discography/8BP099).
And Black Custard seems to be a popular choice for favorite. Oddly enough, it is both the first song I started for the EP and the last one I finished. It was named due to me writing the first parts of it at a custard bar, composing GB music with a local friend of mine here.
I nearly shit myself when I first got it. It's really overwhelming. Like I said in the OP, I gave up on pretty quickly at first. Thankfully I went back to it though, I think my former experience as a computer programmer helped put it all together (and maybe slightly made up for my complete lack of any real musical background/knowledge).

All of that Dawn Metropolis stuff sounds like epic boss encounter music. It's heavy, but I dig it.
The other side of the coin is YMCK. I really like this song. It's borderline cheesy, but I like how it all comes together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYlWKR-0KCs
Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, and Black is my fav song by them though.
