How do you keep track of your DVD/Blueray collection?
Hi
I have too many DVD's and I used to keep them logged in into a little PDA device but it recently broke down.
Not using it I find myself buying DVD's I already own when I shop at local used DVD's stores.
What do you all do to keep up with what you have and don't have while buying from B & M stores?
I am not planning on buying an Ipod before someone recommends that.
Thanks a lot
Patrick

I built my own DVD Website: http://www.dkephotography.com/dkedvd.htm
But for on-the-go use I use "Movie Collector" on my iPod.

I've tattooed every title onto my body. The problem is I ran out of room long ago and kept buying dvds. I had to hire a prostitute to have children for me, so I can tattoo my new titles on them. I just finished tattooing Norbit on my 2-year-old's forehead. I'll post pics after it heals.

Hi
This is the original poster. I see a lot of programs for in home use but not much for on the road when at a store purchasing movies.Beside using your brain or an Ipod which I don't have yet.
What else do you all use?
It looks like a notepad printout is going to be the way.

I assume he means "how can I check my current inventory when I'm out shopping?"
If you don't want to use your brain or and ipod/iphone/other portable device to either run a local program or check your inventory online, I think you're limited to either paper and pen or printout, or calling home and asking, "Hey do I have this?"
My collection is small enough that if I encounter something in the store I almost always know if I already have it. Plus I don't normally just browse-and-buy in a store.
I use dvdprofiler for local/online, and my iphone to check remotely if I absolutely have to. I know you said you're not going to get one, but damn if it isn't very handy.

I keep track of my DVDs and Blu-rays using DVD Aficionado and Microsoft Excel/Google Docs.
However, I don't ever recall entering a store, seeing something, and not remembering if I already had it or not.

Guys.... he's looking for a portable version.
And the fact that he's not willing to go iPhone/iPod will severely limit his options. As some other have mentioned, how big is his collection to not know what he already owns? Mine is over 1,000 and I pretty much have a good handle on what I own.

Re: How do you keep track of your DVD/Blueray collection?
Hi
Well original poster again. I might have to buy an iphone if that's the only option. I used to have a PDA that died, a Zire 31, it was pretty handy with the database on the PC and the Zire.
How many DVD's I own, you all wonder? slightly over a 1000. Is it a lot? For my friends yes but here no, I know you all have 15000.
Do I forget which ones I own? Yes for about 3% of my collection, especially the numbered ones. (Anybody needs Saw IV? I just got a second copy, I was really missing saw III. LOL!)
I rent movies first and then I buy what I liked when I see a good deal, so without a list I tend to be confused sometimes when buying used DVD's.
All right let's stop the bad memory judgment and get back to topic.
Beside getting an Iphone, is there another cheaper portable alternative that can be hotsynced with a PC?
I don't need all the bells and whistles just my DVD list with me at all times.
Thanks again
Patrick
