Rescue Me -- "Disease" -- 6/23/09

Rescue Me

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

The guys visit Sean in the hospital; Katy is home from school and wants a family dinner---one that includes Colleen and Black Shawn; and Lou and Tommy make a wager concerning the women in their lives.

Bad news for anyone who collects the DVD's for this show. Season 5 will be broken up into 2 DVD sets (11 episodes each) Part 1 comes out September 1st, which is when episode 22 is scheduled to air.

Makes no God Damn sense at all since the show is airing all 22 episodes consecutively. The MSRP is $49.95. Sony sucks, what a fucking joke.

Same thing that has been done with Nip/Tuck and BSG. I assume since they normally have short seasons, when they are longer, exec's think they can just break up the releases. Im not surprised.

Re: Rescue Me -- "Disease" -- 6/23/09

But those instances don't apply to Rescue Me. All 22 episodes are airing in a row. Since the show had almost 1 year off, that was the whole point of postponing airing it until now. I'm assuming all the episodes are already in the can. Spliting this into 2 parts would make a little more sense if 11 were airing now and 11 were airing in the Fall or next year, but that's not the case.

Nip/Tuck and Battlestar had almost 1 year gaps and also had filming gaps as well.

Look at another show Eureka on SyFy. It's current season is 21 episodes, however the 1st 8 episodes aired over 1 year ago, so they are releasing the 1st 8 on DVD. The remaining 13 are airing this summer.

If Sony needs more time to produce the extras or master the DVD's, they should postpone this a few more weeks to a few months later to get the full season on DVD.

Huh?

I don't know what comments you have been reading, but I got the impression that most of the people here have enjoyed season 5 better than season 4 including myself.

Yeah granted I've missed the past few episodes(Hulu is my savior), but in my opinion this season has been infinitely better so far than the past 2 seasons, so you definitely wanna give it a shot before you make decisions like that.

I could do w/o the musical numbers.

Another great dinner scene. And I loved Tommy's conversation with Black Shaun to get him to come to dinner. "Archie Bunker on line 2."

His relationship with Sheila is perfect. First thing she says when he walks in the door: "take off your pants."

I agree, they felt really out of place to me.

When Black Sean showed up for dinner, i couldn't stop laughing. All I could think about was "Hey, Carlton is back"

The prayer was awesome: "Thank you that we could all be here, including Black Shawn...I mean, it doesn't matter what color he is..." The whole dinner scene was excellent.

I like the musical number. So out of place and wacky it fits for the show. Absolutely loved Mike's crying to only show he was playing to pick up the hot nurse.

Well cause everyone says its funny doesnt mean I think it will be. I read what everyone thinks is 'great' and I roll my eyes because I know I wont like where the show is going and what its doing.

So, you aren't going to check it out and decide for yourself? True everyone won't like the show the same as others, but the majority will tell you that this season is light years ahead of last season. Check it out before you make brash decisions.

So your choosing to rush to judgment and write off the show entirely just because a few comments here about the show don't "sound" funny to you?

Since the season is half over already and obviously you haven't watched any of it yet, why don't just at least rent the DVD in September and watch a few episodes 1st before you say "Screw this show, I don't care anymore."

No Im still going to watch it. Ive been recording the show since it premiered, just havent started it yet. Dont get me wrong, I hope it is good!

I do like the show, but detest Janet and Sheila, infact I hate every woman the show has had latley. Especially how every woman finds Tommy irresistable. Edit out his whole 'personal' life and the show would be perfect.

You're kidding, right?

Taking Tommy out of Rescue Me is like taking the wreck out of the train wreck
