Planet Earth Blu-Ray UK BBC version about $39 from Amazon UK
I got this one from FW and I didn't see this listed anywhere and thought it was a pretty good deal (thanks to Snobord99).
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Planet-Earth.../dp/B000SKNIWE
Got a hankering to buy Planet Earth on Blu Ray without having to hear Sigourney Weaver's voice and found this from some random (to me) site who jacked it from SD (so I guess credit goes to SD). So it's the UK version of the BBC version which means it's (as far as I've read) 5 disks instead of the U.S. version's 4 so there's more content but I don't know what. Either way, it's the best price I've been able to find on the BBC (not Discovery Channel) version of this.
It's £25.23 shipped so I guess that comes out to somewhere between $35 and $40 depending on the exchange rate and whatever charges you may have to incur from your cc.
Some more info I had from the forum I found the deal on prior to buying and posting but didn't include:
1. The box says 1080i for legal reasons because some of the bonus material is 1080i but the substantive stuff is 1080p.
2. People in the states who ordered have received it and report that it works beautifully. One of them owns a 40gb PS3 which I assume was the weapon of choice.
3. They're receiving it about 10 calendar days after ordering.
4. Will arrive via USPS.
5. I recall seeing one person say one of his disks was loose in the box when it arrived but was unscratched. Most [common] damage I saw was creases in the box probably from shipping.
6. Differences in versions:
BBC UK version: Attenborough Narrages, no cut footage, 5th disk with "Natural World" bonus
BBC US version: same as BBC UK without the bonus disk
Discovery US version: Sigourney Weaver narrates, 10 min cut from each original episode (for commercial time), has 5th bonus disk with "The Future." Also, I'm not as sure about this, the encoding actually IS 1080i. Based on a review I read, the picture quality is a little inferior to the BBC versions, but I assume that's only if you're REAL nit picky

I read in another DVDTalk forum that PS3 sold in the US does not process PAL, in which case they will not work with these Blu-ray discs.

From everything that I had read on this, and as others had mentioned, this set is region free and should be good fine for blu ray. Mine was officially "dispatched" the other day, and the total came to $36 and change.

Wow, I must have scored a deal or something? I placed the title in my cart and went to the checkout. On the final confirmation screen, the price came out as £22.15, NOT £25.47 as advertised on the page. S&H was £3.08. Based on the current exchange rate, that's about $35, which is not bad at all!

UPS just arrived here at work with a package from Amazon - I am amazed on how quickly I received this. I ordered on Dec. 30th and officially received an acknowledgment on the 31st, dispatched on Jan. 2nd and received on the 5th! Arrived in excellent condition and will give it a go when I get home tonight and let y'all know how it looks.

Damn, talk about jumping the gun and buyer's remorse. This thing seems to always happen to me. Too bad Amazon doesn't do any price adjustments after the item was shipped out. Though, I will contact them and ask them to see if I get lucky. Oh well, my set shipped out the other day and am looking forward to seeing it in about a week and a half.

If anybody is reluctant to pick this up, I would like to say it is time to pull the trigger, especially at this price. I picked it up the other day when it was about US$35 shipped and don't regret it a bit. It is more than worth $35 to me so I have no buyers remorse whatsoever. This set it beautiful - and it's the Attenborough commentary too which is so much better in my opinion...
Just my two cents...
