Cleaning sticker residue from DVD

If this has already been answered, sorry to ask again. I've searched, but have not found an answer to the problem I encountered.

Bought my kids a mega DVD set of a 1960's TV show. Came in, what I thought was, a really cool holder until I discovered the DVD holder got sticker residue on several of the DVDs!

I know acetone will clean sticker residue. Worried about using acetone on a DVD. I carefully tried rubbing alcohol, but this just moved the sticker residue around.

What can I use, some common household product, to clean sticker residue from a DVD without ruining the DVD?

Thanks.

I would have returned the set to the store for a replacement. In fact I have returned DVDs in this situation.

Failing that, try Goo Gone.

I've seen Goo Gone in the store. Others have recommended it for removing sticker residue from the DVD/CD case. What chemicals are in Goo Gone. Is this a common, household, chemical?

If it's on the artwork, scotch tape will do the trick.

Just hold the scotch tape by both ends tightly and pull of the residue that way.

This is how I usually get off sticker residue on cases when I don't use Goo Gone.

The glue isn't on the case, it's on the disc.

Goo Gone should do the trick.

Or, if you're a cheapskate like me, zippo lighter fluid

Just don't smoke while doing it!

I'll throw in another vote for Goo Gone. That stuff is awesome.

Goo Gone's fine, but don't get it on the clear side. It'll smoke it.

What do you mean "clear side"? I've used Goo Gone on the silver side of a few CDs and DVDs over the years, if that's what you mean. I've always heard that it's more important to use a non-abrasive cloth, and wipe the fluid off from the inside toward the edge, and not in a circular motion.
