Anyone have any experience with Vudu boxes?
My dad is doing a complete remodel of his home and his high end HT buddy talked him into a Vudu box. Not sure why he wouldn't just go w/ Netflix and a BluRay machine. I've read up on them a bit, but wanted to know if anyone has personal experiences with them.

IMHO, just say no

I really think that sometimes simpler is better. Does anyone really need all that content at their disposal and at that price?

to my dad, money is of no cost. to him convenience far outweighs any cost. i think that's what's holding him back from the netflix blu ray way.

What do you want to know?
Patrick
Sr Product Manager, VUDU.
FWIW, that article is pretty old relative to all that has changed on the service in the past year. The cost of the box is now $299 and if you buy at Best Buy now, you'll get $200 in credits towards movie purchases and rentals. We're over 10,000 titles in the service and have recently introduced our HDX format that is the highest-quality HD content available from any on-demand or Internet-delivered service. Our HD library is currently over 500 titles and growing VERY rapidly.

Hey Patrick --
Send two or three of us boxes for review -- and maybe $50 in credit. Let us check it out and then pass it along to someone else on the forum. A little out of the box Guerrilla marketing and it will show confidence in your product. Clearly you think these forums are important to show up here and post. Put some product where your words are...

beebs,
I'm here because this thread popped up in a Google News Alert and I thought I could help. We do have a review unit pool and I'd be happy to put a DVDTalk representative on the list for one when one frees up. However, the risk in trying a box right now is very low considering the effective $99 net price currently at Best Buy ($299 - $200 in movie credit). If you don't like it, you'll just be out the cost of any rentals, if you do, you've got $200 in credit to play with.
If there are any questions about the VUDU box, service or software that you'd like answered, I'm happy to help.

For adult content, SD rentals are typically $6.99 with purchases at $19.99. HD Rentals are $8.99. We currently have just shy of 1000 adult titles with 32 of those available in HD in addition to SD.
