Wow, way too young. I just watched Transformers yesterday too, (which is odd, as I don't really care for it).

This is terrible. What a sad way to start my morning. Bad Santa, The Original Kings of Comedy, The Oceans Trilogy, he was one of the highlights of each film and other films I have not mentioned. The Bernie Mac Season One DVD i bought and enjoyed the hell out of it. That was a very well done show with a great performance by Mr. Mac. I know there is supposedly a Dark Knight Curse but now it looks like there could be a Transformers curse as well.

RIP

Bobby Bolivia: Son, I'm a lot of things. A liar's not one of them. Especially not in front of my mammy. Hey, Mammy!
[Mammy gives him the middle finger]
Bobby Bolivia: Oh don't be like that! If I had a rock I'd bust your head bitch. I tell you man, she deaf. You know.

this is indeed shocking and sad and my heart goes out to his friends and family.

but, earlier this week Access Hollywood was doing one of their "Fact or Fiction" segments and they said "Bernie Mac maybe on deaths' door" or something like that and they said it was fiction, that his "reps" said he was merely being treated for pneumonia.

obviously he was close so why can't these reps be straight up about it and not this Hollywood secretiveness so that those that care can say a prayer and hope for a recovery. i don't get it.

Rest In Peace, Bernie. Very sad day for comedy.

Hopefully we can finally get the whole series of The Bernie Mac Show released on DVD.

I thought it was odd that he was going into the hospital for pneumonia. They don't usually hospitalize you for pneumonia unless it's a very bad case. They'll give you antibiotics and give you some prescription decongestants and send you home in most cases.

If they admit you then you're in pretty bad shape.

Of course, it's very possible that it wasn't the pneumonia that got him hospitalized.

Now, I wasn't a fan of Bernie's, but 50 is WAAAAY to young to die. It's a real bummer for his fans, and it's devastating for his family.

Man this sucks. I fucking loved him in Ocean's Eleven and his too-brief role in Transformers. His best was Bad Santa, specifically the scene where he accuses that 12-year-old of shoplifting from the video game store. "Happy Kwanzaa!" Weirdly he shares a lot of scenes with John Ritter.

RIP

EDIT: How could I mention Bad Santa and forget to reference the money negotiations scene?

"45%."
"Half."
"48%?"
"Hahff."
"49%?"
"Half."

So tragic. I remember when news broke that he was in Transformers and all the fanboys immediately railed against it, but when the movie came out everyone seemed to change their minds. He was always a great standout in his films and his sit-com seemed funny whenever I caught it.

Lame. He was pretty damn awesome. Bad Santa is one of my favorite movies he stars in. Absolute Classic!

This really sucks.

Been a fan of Bernie since I was introduced to him on Def Jam. Always looked forward to every movie he would show up in. And though I rarely watch sitcoms, I loved his show.

I was shocked to hear of his death today. I didn't realize that Pneumonia was such a deadly illness to have. Most people who I have heard of who died from the illness were senior citizens. Bernie Mac looked like a strong guy and was only 50 to top it off.

That really sucks. At such a young age, too. He was one of the more hilarious comics working today. He always made me laugh. His role in "Life" was when I first really noticed him. R.I.P.

The last thing I read about him was his performance at a Obama campaign where they found his jokes in poor taste. The dumbasses.

Bernie Mac looked like a strong guy and was only 50 to top it off.It sounds like it was pneumonia in tandem with the sarcoidosis. If there are other illnesses at play then getting pneumonia could be the last step; my dad had cancer at 56 and when he came down with pneumonia he died a few days later.

I remember watching his segment of Original Kings of Comedy on VHS back in the day when I was really young. Couldn't get enough of those guys, especially him. The Bernie Mac Show was a toned down version of some of his comedy material, but still so good; I never missed it. One of the great comedians of our time, truly a loss.

R.I.P. Bernie Mac

I used to not be able to watch much of what he was in until someone told me to give the Bernie Mac show a chance. I did and enjoyed it quite a bit, and then all the other films he was in that used to get all my nerves i saw in a different light for some reason. He was so good at what he did and just seemed to put 110% of his heart in every role he portrayed, no matter how small it may have been. When i found out all i could think about was him sitting in that chair on his show talking to the camera actually believing he was talking to me because he was just that damn good. He will be missed.
Lord we give to you our friend Mr. Bernie Mac, try not to piss him off.

You bring up an excellent point! And along with Sen. Edwards denial of "tabloid" reports. It sure seems that these Hollywood reporting are the ones to trust.
Remember how Pitt & Jolie denied they had a romance because the tabliods were reporting it? Support and buy the tabliods!

I just remembered how in the commentary or something for Bad Santa, they said that Mac had loved Three's Company and was in awe of John Ritter on the set. I guess they're meeting again now.

Paul Newman seems to be the front runner according to reports.
