Gary Cooper in MAN OF THE WEST $7.50 at WalMart

Was pleasantly surprised to see the MGM release of the Gary Cooper/Anthony Mann classic MAN OF THE WEST for $7.50 at WalMart. This is a new release and this price beats any of the online e-tailers. It was not in the New Release section, but in the rack with the other $7.50 DVDs.

Picked that up today. Nice surprise. They've also had the Tyrone Power/Henry Fonda Jesse James there for $7.50 for a while.

You can also get Man of the West in a two-pack with the Westerner at Wal-Mart for $10 as part of their Father's Day selections. The Westerner is definitely worth the extra $2.50.

Wow, I didn't see that. Back it goes to exchange for a two-pack. Thanks, Spiral.

I didnt see any of the titles mentioned here or the 2-packs.

They did have a WB Richard Harris Double Feature for 7.50 The Deadly Trackers and Man in the Wilderness that I bought. It says first time Widescreen for each title.

The two-packs were at both of the Super Wal-Marts near me. They have a blue cover that says "My Dad Rocks It Like...A Cowboy." They were on an endcap. They had about four or five of each set. Each of the titles is in its own individual keepcase. Paul1957 really deserves the credit. He brought these sets to my attention in another thread. There were probably 20 different two-packs and multipacks.

No luck here. They had a few of the "my dad rocks" sets, but not this one.

The sets I found (Westerner/Man of the West---Man With the Gun/The Way West) were at the supercenter in Festus Mo, so they are in the St Louis area.

The walmart I went to today had them out. They were in the regular Dvd racks. I looked all over the store for a display type thing and figured they were not out yet but there they were.

I got the Gary Cooper 2 pack. Would have gotten Man With the Gun/The Way West but i already got Man with the Gun on the way from DD in the B2g1f deal they had.

I had no luck in Fenton, MO (they had other "My Dad Rocks" titles) but was able to pick up the Gary Cooper and the Robert Mitchum sets in Chesterfield, MO today (they were the last copies in the display).

I have to say though, I'm puzzled by some of the title selections. One selection called "My Dad Rocks Like an Athlete" contains the 2 disc version of RAGING BULL, which strikes me as a weird Father's Day present. I can just see some thinking: "My dad really liked the Rocky movies and this one's about a boxer and, hey, it's got the guy from MEET THE PARENTS. This will be a great gift!" So on Father's Day evening, the whoel family sits down to watch it. Pandemonium ensues....

Thanks for posting about that. Picked up the 2-pack at the La Habra, CA Wal-Mart for $10 yesterday. Blind buy, but I've heard they're good.

Finally saw Man of the West today, but only as a single. None of the other Cooper westerns were available.

They did have Big Trail, tho'.

Well, I'm 0 for 4. 4 Wal Marts, Zero 2 packs on the Gary Cooper Western titles....

Bummer. Well, at least I got Man of the West. I'll buy the rest on the DD 20% off sale.

Ditto. Our mart has 2 packs of John Wayne movies, but no Coop.

The other display, mentioned in another thread, with some 4.88 westerns in it has appeared though.

That's right, I found them.

Not only the Gary Cooper pair (Man of the West and The Westerner), but I found the Robert Mitchum pair (Man With the Gun and The Way West)!

(OK, my wife found them - but I've got them sitting on my desk right now as I type this.)

This really is a YMMV situation. Only 1 out of the 5 Wal Marts that we checked had them.

I have not found these in two stores I checked in the Knoxville, TN, area. Did buy Man of the West for $7.50 today, but will save my receipt and keep it unopened while I continue searching. I did spot a two-title set of Shane and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance for $9.00, but I've owned those two for a long time.

More John Wayne than you can shake a stick at, but no Coop!
