Xbox Live turns five! 11/15/7

I am suprised I haven't seen any discussion on this yet. If there is or was, I must have missed it. Anyway, like the title says Xbox Live turns five today, 11/15/2007. To celebrate Microsoft is making some new themes, and an Xbox Live Arcade game free to download for the next couple of days. Also, if you have been with live for the whole five years they are giving you 500 free MS points and a bunch of other stuff.

I really like the new themes they have, the Gears of War and Halo 2 themes look pretty rad.

Xbox 360 Freebies

Did you look in either the Xbox or XBLA threads?

I remember getting my first Live kit on the day the service launched. Who knew at the time that it was going to be pretty much worthless until the 360 came out.

I did have some fun playing MechAssault online but that is really the only game I recall playing a great deal on the original XBOX....other than Halo but we have XBConnect to thank for that.

Yup, it's well discussed in both threads. I already purchased Carcassonne and have been on Live since 03, so I'm a loyal customer who's completely SOL.

I must have missed it in all the pages. Oh well.

Anyway, if Korea is getting Hexic 2 for free can't we just change our region settings and pick up both games for free?

Weird that they'd have Return to Castle Wolfenstein as a theme, seeing as how it's a six old PC game.

Halo 2 was the reason I paid for Live. Saw no reason to have it before that.

I know people like shitting on LIVE, and to be honest some of it deserved, but for those of us who don't have gamer friends and family in the real world LIVE online gaming is really a great thing to have and with the right game and online crowd it can be a wonderful experience.

Happy B-day!

Oh, and the Live is 5ive theme is ok looking, but the blade with 5's in green and the black around them makes my head hurt. I can't read anything so I changed that to a different color.

I tried to set up a Korean account. I was doing well until I had to enter a valid address -- in Korean! I just gave up, then I read at CAG that apparently they can ban your Live account for messing with other reigons and such. For this one game, it's probably not worth the risk.

Very true. I guess it isn't that big of a deal. I was just curious to see if it could be done. I am sure it wouldn't be to hard to make up a Korean addy though. Just go online and look for a business address in Korea and adjust the numbers a bit.

No. That was easy, but when it comes to putting in the address, it was Korean letters or characters. No way I could enter any address without reading Korean.
