Nice review, though I am not too familiar with importing HD-DVD's. Is it really worth buying if the original theatrical cut has subtitles? I don't think I have seen the director's cut, so I cannot verify if it's an improvement on the original cut, or if it's just a few uneeded deleted scenes added back into the film.

The director's cut is the definitive cut of the film. It's not just a few bland deleted scenes cut back in.

Terminator 2 has been released and re-released, and re-re-released so many times on every video format known to man that I was expecting people to be pretty familiar with it by now.

Best video and audio - the "Extreme Edition".

Best supplements - the "Ultimate Edition".

Yeah, the extras on the Ultimate Edition are great. However, the Extreme Edition has the commentary by James Cameron that I haven't heard yet. The Ultimate Edition has that "pasted together" group commentary which is OK.

Really? I've always thought the Ultimate Edition had slightly better audio.

The Ultimate Edition has a DTS track, but it's from the old theatrical mix. The audio was remastered for near-field home theater for the Extreme Edition, and even though it's only DD 5.1 is better sounding overall.
