For the Good Eats collectors out there, don't buy "Sweet Somethings"

I'm pretty sure there are a couple of people out there who have been buying the Good Eats collection as they come out as I have. This "new" release that just came out recently though, "Sweet Somethings", is just a repack of "Super Sweets 4-6" under different disc names (the eps are the same though). If you just want these eps it's a good way to get them, but if you are looking to add to your collection don't bother.

Thanks for the warning!

I hope this isn't too much of a threadjack, but I have a GoodEats question... Why aren't more of these in the dvdaficionado.com database? I tried adding some myself, but I don't have a scanner so I can't scan in the covers, I didn't find them online in a suitable form, and my submission got rejected with them (and they wanted more info, which is hard since there really isn't much on the back of the boxes!).

Any thoughts/suggestions?

(And no-buy a scanner doesn't count as a suggestion. :P )

DVDAf users tend to focus on either the big new releases each week, or all the various permutations of black and white Eastern European snuff films.

I know I've submitted some yoga titles recently that went right in, but, I had access to a scanner and a wife with graphic arts experience to help scan them.

My wife and I are both GoodEats fans, but we either just DVR the eps, or look up the recipes online. If I had the DVDs I would certainly submit them to the database.

I sure wish they would release Good Eats in season sets. I'd love to have them on DVD but I'd much prefer them in complete sets than these random (and expensive) discs they keep doing.

I filled out the web form on the FoodTV site and in the response I got this 865-560-3663
as the corporate phone #. If people are interested in this (season sets for example) maybe calling the number will help.

Ooh-that sounds like a great idea. I'll definitely call.... I got my DVDs from eBay, since the FoodNetwork sets are so expensive...

I'll pick up season sets in a heartbeat. But I won't touch these "sets" they have out now. So I guess I ought to make the call. Or make my wife do it since she's the real fan.

- Deep Space Slime
- Puddin' Head Blues

Hooked and Cooked, Poultry Pleasers, More Meats
- Grill Seekers
- A Chuck for Chuck
- Family Roast
- What's Up Duck
- Fry Hard 2: The Chicken (Fried)
- In the Bulb of the Night (Garlic)
- Hook, Line and Dinner

Yeah last time I was near a Target I stocked up, sadly no stores around here so ePAY is where I get my fix.

The regular price is $20. The sale caught me by surprise, I stocked up then. I keep checking back regularly to see if there are any new releases, no new box sets in the last 2 months.

Twenty dollars is STILL hugely better than the FoodNetwork price, though!!!

Alton Brown was in Austin about a couple of years ago to promote his second cookbook, and he was asked this question. He said that there are plans to do it, but he wants to be involved with the release. He said not to be waiting because he had another series he was working on (I'd imagine this would be Feasting On Asphault), then another season of Good Eats and then to "try" to get them out. So at least he did acknowledge they are trying to, but it sounds like it'll be on his own time. But here's to hoping, I'd love to have them.

Well, at least we know Alton recognizes that we want seasons. I'm willing to wait if the end result is well done, complete season sets with Alton's involvement.

Re: For the Good Eats collectors out there, don't buy "Sweet Somethings"

(Mega-bumping an ancient thread I know...)

Was at Target today -- and while there have been many compilation sets released over the years -- and as part of their exclusive deal with Food Network, there are finally Complete Season One and Season Two sets on the shelf.

Two discs per set, single keepcase with a slipcover. $16.99 each, but I'm sure they'll go on sale at some point.
