Peeping Tom (1960) - What's Your Thoughts?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054167/

I've contemplated blind-buying the Criterion disc quite a number of times, and while I've seen the disc muttered here and there amongst a few threads recommending 50's and 60's horror flicks and such, I haven't been able to justify the purchase yet (even at sale prices, it's hard to find for < $25). Have you guys given this 60's horror classic a chance - and if you have, what are you thoughts and does it warrant numerous viewings?

Absolutely terrific movie that has taken years to achieve its deserved classic status. The extras on the Criterion edition cover the initial reaction (virtually every critic hated it) that virtually ended the UK career of Michael Powell.

Put me in the minority on this one... I traded for it, spun it, sold it... Not impressed.

I'd say this is a movie that reveals its treasures only upon repeated viewings. It's one of the least accessible Michael Powell films, but one of his best. Many people call it the British Psycho, but I think that's an unfair comparison. The Criterion has some brilliant extras which by themselves are worth the price of admission, so add that with the film and you have an unbeatable combination.

I blind bought it and wasn't incredibly impressed. I still like it though, and can recommend it as a creepy diversion.

I think it's a very great movie. Very suspenseful and quite disturbing, especially for a movie made in 1960.

I can't see it having much replay value though.

It is diefinityl up there on my top 10 list of favorite films. I would say 1960 was one of the best years for horror. Very creepy movie that I actually like better than Psycho.
