Having watched all 5 seasons on DVD since Jan. this will be the first one I watch weekly. Unfortunately, afaik, the CW isn't in HD.

I'm still pumped though.

Can't wait to see how they undo everything that happened in the Season 5 finale in a single episode.

I've seen an episode here and there, but I formally started watching from Epsiode 1 back in June. I just finished up and I'll be watching live for the first time too. Looking forward to Smallville in HD -- although CW *definitely* has to fix that bug. That was nuts during Gilmore Girls.

I hope they give Lana a brain this season. Last season she was so preoccupied with herself and her needs. The finale last season got me to really hate her character even more when she raced through the chaos in Metropolis just to be with Lex/Zod.

Someone mentioned that season passes for the WB are not carried over.
I would check this out.

The station logo at the bottom of the screen.

The "CW" image is frickin huge and bold (not opaque).

I gave up on Smallville in the middle of last season

Spoiler:
when Johnathan Kent was killed off. A question for you guys which I will put in spoilers so not to upset anyone: Is Johnathan still dead? Did he come back to life? Is he going to come back?

I ask because I REALLY didn't like the fact they killed this character off.

Everything in your post except your spoiler text is a spoiler.

Spoiler:
He's done

Which of course brings up the argument of, "do people have the right to be annoyed when something isn't spoilerized that happened in a previous season?" Particularly since if you are going to be watching this episode, you probably have a decent idea that said person isn't around any longer.

Yeah, I'm curious to see what happens. Then I might finally give up on the show but I'll read the spoiler sites to see if there's any decent episodes afterwards.

In this thread. No. In another thread. Yes.

Anyone that hasn't watched season 5 deserves what they get if they are reading season 6 episode threads.

Now if a discussion goes off on a tangent in, say, a Lost thread, and someone mentioned Jonathan's death on Smallville, then it would be a big spoiler.

Exactly. Everything about previous episodes/seasons is fair game in an episode thread.

The only spoilers in here would be about the current episode (prior to airing) and anything about future episodes (including preview stuff shown during ending credits). At least that's the rules as I understand 'em.

Smallville has proved that one of the few things it gets right is a kick-ass season finale and a matching season opener so this should be no different.

Well, I enjoyed the season premiere so much that I found that I could not turn away towards "The Office".

Loved Clark stink-palming Lex-Zod, loved that they squeezed in the "Kneel before Zod" line.

Lana showed some grit and determination.

The meeting of CK, and James in front of Chloe was a light touch given the rest of the episode.

Lionel is on his way to becoming the world's foremost Krypto-stenographer. Heh.

Now we have a season of one-shots to look forward to. Stephen K. DeKnight did a good job with the season opener.
