Hooray!

The first 3 episodes ("Echoes Of The Mind," "Ehcoes Of The Mind Part 2," and "Mac's Back") tell a continuous story. Despite their titles, those first 2 episodes were originally broadcast a week apart, so don't be expecting a continuous 2 hour episode. This is different than how previous seasons handled such stories, where they were braodcast as a continuous 2 hour episode. Anyway, these 3 episodes are all among the very best of the entire series.

The end of "Mac's Back"
Spoiler:
is a redoing of the end of "The Woman On The Beach" from season 2.
This is a real treat for long time fans who are paying attention.

"Blind Justice" has a plot that's like a really good episode of "Law And Order."
Spoiler:
The stuff at the end with the tape recorder is very well written.

"Torah Torah Torah" is a great example of religious faith.
Spoiler:
Magnum's decision to walk with the Rabbi saves his own life. The rabbi's speech about the first time he saw Higgins is quite moving.

The singer at the bar in "Let Me Hear The Music" does a nice cover of Linda Ronstadt's version of the Everly Brothers' song "When Will I Be Loved." If you like it, I recommend Ronstadt's album "Heart Like A Wheel."

They're also all found on previous Magnum, P.I. releases (Echoes of the Mind on Season 1 and Mac's Back on Season 4). It makes me feel slightly gypped in buying Season 5 since Disc 1 will be practically useless to me.

Thanks for pointing that out 'big train'. grundle's enthusiasm got me interested enough that I was reconsidering my decision not to buy season 5, but since I already have the episodes mentioned those won't be a factor. I like the show a lot, but I still have a few more episodes in season 3 to watch and all but the first episode of season 4 to watch.

Well, at least you can watch them continuously without switching discs. Despite the fact that it's called "Mac's Back" and not "Ehcoes Of The Mind Part 3," it is a continuous story.

Thanks for the info!

I for one will be looking forward to it very much...the quick release of Season 4 after Season 3 was great, I hate the long wait...

Now if they would get Season 3 for Miami Vice out.......

It's a deal. I've selected a special vintage which should be more than adequate for your palette. It was bottled in March.
