DVD Talk review of 'Hercules / Mole Men Against the Son of Hercules'
I read Ian Jane's DVD review of Hercules / Mole Men Against the Son of Hercules at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=21955 and... although I enjoyed Ian Janes' DVD review, he was incorrect in stating that Pietro Francisci's HERCULES was released in the US after Jason And The Argonauts. That great Ray Harryhsausen classic was released theatrically here in 1963 while Hercules got it's 1st release here by Warner Brothers in the summer of 1959 and was made in 1957. I should know because I went to see both these films in their original releases when I was a kid in NYC. Also I'm surprised that Mr. Jame's Hercules DVD review doesn't state that Retromedia used the European version of the film, rather that the US version released by Joseph P. Levine back in 1959 that was shown on TV in the 1960's and was on video in the 1980's, because the English language dubbing is different in both versions and the opening credits of the film are diferent in both versions. I have both the French Import DVD version of Hercules that is identical to the Retromedia DVD version, as well as the recent German 2 DVD disc release of Hercules & Hercules Unchained both in the original anamorphic widescreen ratio and the English Language tracks on both films on this 2 DVD set are the same language tracks used in the original US theatrical releases of these films.
