Level Intros, Cut Scenes, Etc
Ok.. I'm all for having a good story in games and what not but sometimes you just want to skip all that crap and get to playing.. Who else hates the friggin games that don't let you do that!?
For example.. I'm playing PDZ and each mission has it's intro that you can't bypass.. You try and press every button on the controller, that don't work.. So you try pressing multiple buttons, that don't work either..
Argh! I hate games that do this!!? What is the point!?

Kingdom Hearts 2 allows you to skip any scene, which is going to be a life-saver for playing through again. Most of the game so far is a watching scene, walking a few feet, pressing triangle, and watching another scene. If you couldn't skip those, I don't know if I'd consider playing it again for a while.

Condemned... hello!
I hate that you can't skip cut scenes with a passion as well as long intros, and even the endless string of corporate logos when you first put in the game, [cough] Burnout [/cough].

Oh god. I cannot STAND cutscenes in a video game. And it's gotten to the point where I don't care about the story either, I just want to play! So I skip everything I can, I play (and enjoy) entire games without ever knowing the story, I click through dialogue as quickly as possible, etc.
I hate it when a game forces me to watch something instead of letting me play. Completely defeats the purpose of video games if you ask me.

Yeah for second playthrough and really bad FMV it can be so annoying but at same time I think it great to annoying those wierd types of kids that play like rpgs but never for story just for blood, guts and action. Go play FPS then if dont what to read or better yet Power Rangers or Wrestlemania.

Yeah, not being able to skip through a cutscene or intro sucks big ones. What sucks even more is having to watch all the dialog when watching porn. Well, at least you can fast forward through them because timing is important here.

I love seeing a breathtaking cut scene, but i hate it when they're unskippable, let alone unwatchable again unless you reach that point in the game again. Let us skip them, and add the option to watch any FMV's seperately again.

I thought they were cool back when I first got my PSX with FFVII and Tekken 3. They were like little nuggets of gold...even if looking back they weren't exactly all that good. These days I have a very low patience for overly drawn out cut scenes. The worst offender are those Metal Gear ones where you find yourself looking at the codec screen for 6 minutes. At least those you could read at your own speed.

I don't mind as long as you can skip them after you've seen it once. I've quit playing games where there were cutscenes before bosses that you couldn't skip even after dying. Gets old after the 20th time.

I remember wanting to show my brothers the ending to Kingdom Hearts several years ago during my first daughter's second birthday and having to fight all the way through the last boss was just annoying then.

Yeah, I hate the non-skippable cutscenes too. It seems that many of them allow you to skip it if you've sat through it once, but it still sucks.
2 particularly irritating examples:
-In the Rogue Leader/Rebel Strike games for Gamecube, the cutscenes count as mission time, and can't be skipped the first time. This basically makes it impossible to get a gold medal the first time through a level (yes, you'd have to really know what you're doing and you'd probably just focus on getting the tech upgrade first, but they still should let you skip the scenes).
-Golden Sun for GBA has scenes (well, they're not videos but they might as well be) that go on for ten minutes or so when major plot points unfold. The nature of portable gaming makes this really frustrating when you can't get up and do something you need to do right away without losing your progress if you run in to one of these.
Sometimes they do these to try to hide the loading that goes on in the background, but I'd rather just be able to press a button to get to a loading screen than have to watch a cutscene. At least then I'd know when the game will start.

Yeah, I get annoyed with that also. I guess I didn't notice it in Condemned though. However, if I play through it again, I don't want cutscenes. I really hate them all-together though. Companies will boast about these, but I could care less...I GAMEPLAY graphics.

As stated previously, you can skip ANY cut-scene in Kingdom Hearts II, it doesn't matter if it's the first time you're playing the game.. the option is there for you. Likewise, the dreadfully shitty Dirge of Cerberus has this feature as well (in fact it works the exact same way.. by pausing a cut-scene you have a choice of "Continue" or "Skip Scene"). I wonder if it's in Not-so-Final Fantasy XII? But, hopefully it's the start of a new trend.. I mean, especially for action games.. yikes!

I don't have a 360 yet, but Condemned was at the top of my want list for whenever I do get one. After reading this thread, I think it's been knocked down quite a few spots, though. I'll probably wait for the sequel--hopefully they'll have fixed these annoying issues for it.
