Definitive "Gay" Movie List?

Okay, so some of my gay friends have informed me that I am woefully lacking in the gay cinema department, especially since I consider myself to be a cinemaphile. So I am trying to come up with a list of "must-see" gay movies. It doesn't have to be a gay-themed movie, like Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (Have seen it). It could be a gay cult classic like Mommie Dearest (Have NOT seen it). So I need help. Help me compile a list so I can try to get caught up.

Oh, and if you don't like "gay" movies, don't post here. I don't give a shit.

Here's the list so far:

You should skip Torch Song Trilogy. In fact, you should track down the negatives and destroy them.

As for your question:

Another Country
The Object of My Affection
Paragraph 175
Get Real (1998)

Ignore dfnyc. Mambo Italiano is sitcommy crap. Mysterious Skin, meanwhile, is one of the best movies ever made, and any gay man who trashes Brokeback Mountain should be shot. See how easy it is to be opinionated?

Scuse you? Of all the movies listed that i've seen, they've all been IMHO, total crap. Mambo was the only one remotely interesting and relateable. Oh...sorry..i forgot about Broken Hearts Club. No one's dying of AIDS, doing drag, coming out of the closet or cheating on their boyfriends in either one. Good stuff.

Fuck "The Birdcage". A movie filled with unfortunate stereotypes made for a straight audience.

"Torch Song Trilogy":
"Hedwig":
"Victor/Victoria":

"Mommie Dearest": Does not contain gay themes but is very camp.

"Sunset Boulevard: Excellent film but does not contain gay themes (from what I remember)

"Sound of Music": Hmmmm. Good film but I am not sure how this made the list.

**************

Suggestions:

"My Own Private Idaho"
"All Over Me"
"Edge of Seventeen"
"Beautiful Thing"
"Beefcake"
"Kiss Me Guido"
"The Sum of Us"
"Happy Together"
"My Beautiful Laundrette"
"Bound""
"Maurice"
"Rope"

I wouldn't considered Mommie Dearest as a gay movie, even though, the late Joan Crawford alleged homosexuality, but the accusation has not officially been proved, and never will be. She's no longer present to defend herself in regards to these rumors.
Anyway, my choice of the best gay theme movie is:The Boys in the Band. A powerful, and well acted drama, which relates to the conflicts of acceptance to homosexuality in society, involving personal relationships. A very good movie. Highly recommended!

Some of my personal faves:

Law of desire
Taxi zum klo
I am my own women
Beefcake (great dvd with interviews of former AMG models plus AMG shorts)
Leather Jacket Love Story
Making Love (on dvd 2/7)
Madagascar Skin
Hard (sleazy gay serial killer film-uncut dvd is full of extras)

"gay" films that I love but the "PC" in me says i should hate:

Cruising
Partners
Pantyhose killer (sammo Hung catches the gay to catch the killer of
gays! gay-fu!)
The Boys In The Band

And a special mention must go to the first sort of gay film that I ever
watched: Alexander: The Other Side of Dawn .
