DVD Talk review of 'Veronica Mars - The Complete First Season'
I read Adam Tyner's DVD review of Veronica Mars - The Complete First Season at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=18051 and...
I wholeheartedly second the recommendation. It was a semi-blind buy for me, having never seen anything beyond screen caps and knowing only the basic setup (high school detective with a murdered best friend). Comparisons to Buffy piqued my interest since that is my favorite show, but frankly I don't see a strong resemblance beyond strong female leads. VM didn't hook me as much right away as some other series but I found myself liking it more and more as I watched through the episodes. By the last episode I was quite enamored. (Not that I think the earlier episodes are weaker, though.)
The paucity of extras was disappointing, and it looks like they really botched the release timing. The packaging, with overlaid pairs, seems to be a growing trend, and I'm not overly fond of it; it certainly saves on plastic, but it adds an inconvenience factor.
The music on the series is wonderful. The whole show looked and sounded great.
I encourage anyone who enjoys teen shows (shows with teens, not shows for teens necessarily) to check it out.

Blind buy for me and loved every minute of it...although, the video quality on the first couple episodes was kind of sketchy...it got better after that...maybe the first few were shot differently.
