Footballers Wive$ Season 1 premiering Sunday 7/17 on BBC America

If you like cheesy soaps with over-the-top plotlines and acting, then this is the show for you. I checked out the first 3 episodes on the recently released S1 DVD at a friends house a few weeks ago and was hooked. It is a British soap based on the off-the-field lives of English Premier League soccer players.

S1 is 8 eps long and BBC America is airing them over the next couple months. The first 2 episodes are being aired Sunday 7/17 from 9-11. A new episode airs each Sunday from 9-10.

So far there have been 4 seasons of the show.

Here is the DVD Talk review of S1:

Will it have all the boobs on BBC America that it has on UK TV?

or will it be censored. I added the season pass to my Tivo.

Though the guide info is pretty much crap. It wants to record many times this week.

So, keep the first two on Sunday, then the first one each Sunday thereafter? I don't think I have conflict problems, what with my 3 tivos...

One more note: better hope that BBC-America has closed-captioning because you may need it to get through some of the heavier accents.

Thanks; will Tivo this.

What is it with BBCA not giving info on its shows? I watched "Second Sight" and the Tivo wanted to tape everything because there was no description--not even an episode number or first aired date to identify the episodes.

If anyone missed the 9:00 pm ET to 11:00 pm ET two hour premiere, it re-airs from 12:00 am ET to 2:00 am ET. Looks like the swearing/nudity will be there as they had a warning graphic saying so and it was rated TV-MA.

LB...

I watched the first 2 episodes; not bad. I'll probably keep watching for a while, at least.

One complaint: way too much man ass on this show.

I haven't watched it but I laughed at the Entertainment Weekly review. They said one of the actresses graduated from the London branch of the Andrew Shue School of Acting.

I don't get BBCAmerica as I only have the basic cable included in rent in the apartment complex i live in, but I got the dvds when they came out, and enjoyed it enough that I hope future seasons come out soon. It's trashier than Desperate Housewives, but the acting is not quite as good.
