noob mame32 monitor question

Greetings!
if you have a vertical monitor game(dk/dkjr.galaxian etc.)but a standard
horizontal monitor/tv,(Playing on this would give black bars-left and right.)
how would you change this setting-thus putting your monitor on it's left or right side,to display the image in it's correct aspect ratio?
most likely taking up much more of the screen.
dealing w/a small monitor here,so it does make a bit of a difference.
thanx!
CHEERS! jefff

File Menu -> Properties -> Display -> Rotation (or you can right-click on the game in your list and select Properties). Set it to "clockwise" or "counter-clockwise" depending on which way your monitor is rotated.

You will have to change it separately for each game you want rotated, unless you want to keep your monitor rotated, since changing it in "Default Game Options" (in the Options menu) will cause every game to be rotated.

Is it really safe to set a TV on it's side? Instead, you could turn on the marquee art in mame. Then instead of the black bars, you'll get the art that showed up alongside the screen at the arcade. Hard to explain.. here's an example:

Thanx Drexl !
That worked fine (the colors on my monitor got really washed out/changed completly when I turned the monitor on it's side-another problem for another day)

Thanx to JB69 also!
I would like to try that-but I'm a little dense when it comes to computer/mame type of stuff-I can build the cabinet/controls-but software?
I need my son to help me w/that stuff!

how do I do that bezel artwork stuff you posted?

THANX!
