This sounds kind of stupid but when you record something on one VCR and TV and play it back in another TV and VCR the picture quality is not the same.
Can someone please explain this?

Ita's all analog. It could be anything, or the interactions among several anythings.
Be specific about the difference, and maybe a specific answer will present itself.

When you positively, absolutely want to see a different picture every single time you watch it, choose analog.

I have a sony vcr connected in the master bedroom to a quasar tv made in 1984 and I taped something on it and played it back on a 2003 Go Video Dual Deck VCR on a 1995 Zenith tv and the picture is dark and kind of fuzzy.
also I play back tapes on a 2001 Toshiba vcr on a 1999 60 inch Mitsubishi tv and you can see a picture difference.
