I have to say, it's a shame The Incredibles won't be Incredible at the box office. (down 27.3% from last friday.) Heh, you know you're in a class of your own when $225m is considered to be a bit under-achieving.

Bridget Jone's low theater count (530) is definitly helping the per-theater average, but I think it was pretty much set to make a good buck regardless.

I'm a bit befuddled as to what King's Ransom - with its release pending for March 2005 (-111 days til release) is doing on there. Probably just a cross post meant for Kinsey.

Incredibles is holding up beautifully, actually. That $11 million Thursday, even for a Veterans Day, was mammoth.

If it retains a 27% drop-off rate, its on track to make over $330 million.

At 33% - $274 million.

Only if the drop-off rate drops to 40% will the gross stall at $225 million. So far that is not the case. With great Word-of-mouth and an upcoming holiday season, this should make bank.

Polar Express only looking at 30+ for five days...

Glad to see Incredibles holding up though!

The Incredibles held up phenomenally this weekend and Polar Express opened to a disappointing number - but will likely have legs as the Christmas season approaches.

All in all, I'm glad the Incredibles is doing, well, incredibly.

Seed of Chucky did about what I would have expected, Bridget Jones is off to a good start (goes wide next week).

Ray is still going fairly strong - and doing great for a film nobody wanted. The Grudge continues to impress (lackluster as it may be).

On a side note, I'm amused by how quickly The Incredibles is approaching Shark Tale's numbers. There's definitly a demand of family entertainment, but it shows people actually do like quality on occasions

Man, the Polar Express really got spanked - not even HALF of what "The Incredibles" did in week two.

Of course, it's hard to say what a Christmas movie should do in early November - will it have legs or not?

Anyone have data on other Christmas movies released in early November? (Elf? Santa Clause? other animated Christmas movies?)

An easy prediction, I'd say! (And I agree, of course!)

Those numbers on POLAR are painful to see. But hey, opening 5 days after THE INCREDIBLES wasn't my idea...

I wouldn't call the film dead yet. Sometimes these holiday films tend to hang around until January.

I really enjoyed Polar Express. While I never thought the thing could reach numbers like the Incredibles, the 23 million I see I think is very much a byproduct of its direct cmopetition with The incredibles. Honestly, I think it was a terrible decision to open it this week, but hopefully for it it'll have legs. Though a very different film, Elf opened on november 7th last year to about 31 million and showed amazing legs to a total of 170 plus million. So, early November Christmas releases obviously can display tremendous legs. Hard to say though, we shall see.

The Grudge has some amazing legs for a horror film. Two weeks at one, third at 3, then now 6th. Good job to Sam, Ghost House, Shimizu, and, of course, SMG.

Interesting to see Seed at four, actually, I expected it to be lower like 6 or 7.

I think The Polar Express will have some strong legs throughout the holidays. I saw the movie this past weekend, and I loved it. It's an enchanting sweet film, without getting too sugary and sentimental.

Long standing studio story on how Ray had to be self-financed and then shopped around - studios wouldn't touch it.
