Review Wanted: Shade

I liked it.
It was a relatively subtle movie and you never knew for sure where anyone stood. But that was the point of it.
It was definitely worth a rent and I wouldn't mind seeing it again because I didn't feel stupider after seeing it the first time.

I just saw this dvdtalk review was posted a few days ago.
I liked the movie alot. I have no idea why this went straight to video. Especially when I think about some of the pure crap that's been in theatres over the past year while this film sat on the shelves while searching for a distributor. It's very well acted, directed & written. Nice little twists & turns throughout the entire movie.

It entertained me for two hours but its nothing new as it pretty much copies every other con/poker movie out there (especially Confidence, Snatch and Rounders). The writer/director even admits to ripping off a lot from other movies in one of the featurettes. I did like the final poker tournament, but it could have been a little longer. Although most aspects of the ending, to me, were predictable, I agree that it was difficult to figure out where some of the characters stood.
I'd give it a rental if you're a fan of the genre.
