Babylon 5 Season 5 Announcement
I was checking TVShowsonDVD for Transfomers news and found this little tidbit instead:
Season 5 announcement!

From the beginning, both were running out of time. The space station that was the last, best hope for peace was sooner or later certain to be eclipsed by new political coalitions and technical advances. And John Sheridan, who guided the massive freeport through its most tumultuous days, knew that his own fate had been inalterably prophesied.
Now both storylines converge in a 22-episode final season (with dazzling Exclusive DVD Extras!) whose events also include Sheridan's attempts to wage peace for the Interstellar Alliance, the tragic fate of the telepaths and the ultimate fireball destruction of the outmoded station after it is declared to be a spaceway navigational hazard. You're cleared for final approach...to Babylon 5.
Babylon 5 - The Complete 5th Season contains all 22 episodes of the final season, remastered for 16x9 widescreen picture and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Subtitles are available in English, French, and Spanish, and is closed captioned for the hearing impaired. The running time is 968 minutes. This 6-disc collector's set will feature the following supplements:
Introduction to Wheel of Fire (Season 5 of Babylon 5) by series creator, J. Michael Straczynski
Two audio commentaries by J. Michael Straczynski
Movements of Fire and Shadow commentary by cast members Bruce Boxleitner, Peter Jurasik, Patricia Tallman and Tracy Scoggins
Digital Tomorrow - a featurette about making the special effects for the series
Beyond Babylon 5 - a featurette focusing on the fans, their reactions to the show and available Babylon 5 merchandise
The Universe of Babylon 5
Personnel Files
Data Files
Gag Reel
Episode previews
Easter Egg: Marcus Cole: Dead or Frozen
Additional and Extended Scenes
The 5th season may mark the final one, but it's not the final DVD set for this series. Don't forget that a collection of the Babylon 5 telefilms is coming to DVD in the middle of 2004. But for now, Babylon 5 - The Complete 5th Season - with a list price of $99.98 -will hit the streets on April 13, 2004.

Keep in mind that Season 5 won't be the final B5 box set released: There are also box sets of the B5 telefilms and the spinoff series Crusade planned for 2004, so it looks as though we will see 4 box sets in the new year (Season 4 in January, Season 5 in April, the movies in spring/summer and Crusade to follow). The only related material that is not included is the film Legend of the Rangers.
There is also going to be an announcement in mid-January of a new B5 project, which is rumored to be a feature film.

Although I already knew that they were going to do season five (as well as the telefilms and Crusade), getting a release date less than four months from now is an EXCELLENT Christmas present!!!

Now that they've announced this, I'll be waiting for a re-release of the series that
1) is in 4:3, to eliminate the obnoxious artifacts caused by not re-rendering effects in 16:9
2) has a new transfer with restoration/cleanup of the original elements

I doubt they'll do a lot of work on B5 again until a few years from now when they do some rework overall. They've already done what they have to do to sell the things.
