Criterion LOTR Trilogy?

A friend of mine said that Criterion was going to work on a 13-14 disc LOTR trilogy Criterion release (4 discs for each movie and 1-2 additional exclusive discs).

Is he talking out of his behind or could this be possible?

I'm sure PJ will get right on this as soon as he finishes his TV series about Treebeard the crime-solving ent.

New Line (AKA AOL-Time-Warner) licensing one of their most valuable media properties to another company.

This is true.

In an alternate dimension. Of course it's also the same dimension where the Star Wars prequels used half as much CGI and consequently, didn't suck.

They'd probably still suck, but at least they'd be cheaper to make.
