Scarface (1983) Question ATTN: Major Spoilers
Just wondering about the ending.
Who was the man who shot
Montana in the back? Was he a friend
or associate of Sosa?
Really a depressing ending. Montana seemed to have so much potential to expand his career. It was touching when
he bravely stood up for the lives of the innocent children.
Obviously, Montana was outgunned.
Yet he managed to fight till the end.
Anyone else think it should've been scripted with a more upbeat ending
like "Rocky" or "Shawshank"?

I think it had to end that way.. Braught closure to the film... Yeah, Montanna is a bad guy, but a bad guy you like... It makes the movie more powerful that way.

I was being sarcastic with the last question. The ending was fine and
appropriate. However, can anyone tell me anything about the person
who shot him in the back?

Yea, that same guy was in the film earlier (in the background) at Sosa's place...I'm pretty sure he took Omar up in the helicopter, but I haven't seen it in a while. I don't think they ever name him either. Probably just Sosa's #1 bodyguard/hitman.
