The whole concept of people caring about their number of posts or their DVDtalk title is so ridiculous to me. Look at me! I'm cool!! I post all the time!!!

Basing the titles on number of posts just encourages people like this to abuse the system.

Agreed.

But I think DVDTalk strikes a balance between both. They need people to be active in the community and encourage posting, while not encouraging frivolous pads.

Maybe Geoff would be open to suggestions about another system upon which we could base user titles.

Other than admin whims.

I think people who point out Geoff's mistakes should be granted god-like privileges.

By the way, I sent you an email awhile back asking for the Push, Nevada thing, but I guess maybe it didn't go through. Or maybe you're ignoring me.

Oh, crap, sorry about that... I tried sending it through Hotmail but it was too big. I'm in the middle of a lot of things right now, and it slipped my mind. Let me try with another account.

No problem. Let me know if my Yahoo account doesn't accept it and I'll give you another email address.

What exactly constitutes "padding"?

So do I get any privileges with this title or what? I guess I'll have to avoid kvrdave for awhile.

I think the perfect system would reward people based on affiliate sales not posts. Another system would reward people based on topics they read (which generate ad revenue). I'm not sure if either of these are even feasible, especially the first.

How about length of membership?

Anyone posting just to increase post count. For example, someone who posts twenty times in one thread, instead of editing his/her existing ones. Immortal Ze... I mean, members will do that all the time to inflate their post count.

I got docked 100 posts for mentioning my rollover from one title to another, but I didn't know there was a penalty involved.

I went through several Title changes, but eventually, I wore off and retained the title... but had to make up the posts.

But I have noticed some folks go unpunished (threads locked, but no 100-post penalty), but I'm gonna keep my mouth shut for lack of further angering the Mod-Gods.

No, you need to avoid posting in the Feedback forum altogether! What have I told you?!? You're playing with fire even being here!

Run away! Run away!

Try never posting again. See if that fixes it.
