From the official site

Usually cameos are bad, but I think I'll let this one slide.

You know, I am a tremendous STAR WARS fan.

But I can say that I'm only a fan of the CLASSIC STAR WARS trilogy and not of the new prequels. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Lucas is providing us with more STAR WARS now, but

with all of these ties and threads and everyone-knows-each-other plotlines, the STAR WARS universe seems awfully small.

I mean, seeing ANAKIN SKYWALKER interact with GREEDO in EPISODE I was enough to make me roll my eyes.

I think that's the intent.

milo, you can get excited for Episode III. That's against the law. You're supposed to slam Star Wars and trash Lucas.

Well, I'm interested to see what Chewy's role will be.

Will Lucas rape, pillage, and plunder Star Wars fans yet again?

We'll find out.

Personally, I don't know what to think about this. I'm not that big a fan of Chewie, but I have a feeling this is a move to please the Chewie fans.

R.A. Salvatore would be my first guess.
Spoiler:
He killed off Chewie in the first New Jedi Order book.

I see your points, but I think Lucas keeps on introducing old characters in the prequels when he doesn't need to!

I can understand that he needs to keep Obi Wan and Anakin in the mix, and I like how the two droids are the only constant thread in all six films, BUT certain things are left to our imagination!

POSSIBLE SPOILERS BELOW:

Like Boba Fett's backstory? That was best left to our imagination!!

And C3PO's maker? Unnecessary plot element.

Lucas should stop trying so hard to add MORE old characters to the prequel. I mean, doesn't he have enough meat to work with in EPISODE III??

Why does chewie have to be in it? I'm looking forward to the film, but does the galaxy far far away need to be soo damn small? I mean Han seemed to understand all that chewie was grunting.. now why doesn't he know the driods if they do interact.. I just think this will open a whole new can of worms.

Thats my main problem with him putting Chewie in Ep. III.

Boba Fett, a bounty hunter who out foxes the arrogant Han Solo, turns out to be a clone, and his "father" happens to be used as the blueprint for Stormtroopers. For me, that killed Boba Fett as a character.

I mean whats next? Chewie saves an infant Han from something bad happening?

For what it's worth, I believe it was the other way around. Han saved Chewie from something bad, and therefore Chewie owed something like a "life debt" cuz of it. A "theme"(if you want to call it that) that Lucas apparently wanted to convey with Jar-Jar/Qui-Gon which "echoed" the Han/Chewie one. Well I guess we all know THAT didn't happen.

Maybe we will find out that Palpatine attempted to clone Chewie and in an experiment gone horribly wrong, invented the Ewoks.

Actually, that would explain a lot of things. Palpatine felt bad for making the Ewoks, so he let them build parts of the Death Star II.

Finally,

a Star Wars Prequel theory I feel comfortable with.

Thanks!

It must have made Lucas roll his eyes too, that's why he cut it out and it's a deleated scene.

Just remember who Obi-wan went to in the bar...Chewie! Hmmm did they know eachother before hand? Maybe Chewie was hanging around with Han just for the very reason of having an escape plan with Obi and Luke.

I don't view these things as the galaxy being "small." I view it as fate/destiny (which is a big element of the films) that all these characters have been so intertwined.

Lucas killed my enjoyment of Star Wars when he altered the original trilogy. Nothing he does now will either make up for it or make it worse. Its just something I've come to accept.

I have to wonder how great the prequels COULD have been if lucas just put a little more thought into what he wanted to achieve with them instead of just randomly making up a story on the fly and sort of patching it together to make it fit..

the way he set it up was it should have been a mirror image to show that were Anakin failed to choose the right side, Luke did. He should have had both go through the same situations and choices. saying that, Empire is when Luke had to make that choice, Ep 2 should have been when Anakin made his choice.

I think I read somewhere that there's gonna be a scene in Episode III where Lando's father plays cards with Walrus Man's great uncle.

This is great news. When the OT finally gets to DVD in archival form, there will be even MORE adjustments to make the continuity agree!

Plus, we'll be able to argue about whether or why doesn't Chewie recognizes C3PO and R2D2 (and vice versa).

I bet Chewie will face C3po in a game of chess and get his arms ripped off after he wins.. sure their memory was erased so the comment about wookies losing in ANH will be 10x's funnier!! Oh man, I can't wait!
