Beatles anthology, best selling box set of all time???

Some radio dj (100.7 the bay) after playing a beatles song said that the Beatles Anthology was already the highest selling dvd box set and the fastest of all time.
Anyone got proof to back that up.

If sales at my store are indication, it's far from it. I've only sold one copy and that was the first day it was released when a diehard Beatles fan bought it. Compare that to the dozens of Band of Brothers and Sopranos sets I've sold.

Of course, my store could just be a fluke.

Certainly it must be the best-selling music DVD of all-time.

Sales of the DVD at the Best Buy over here have been somewhat slow. Over here, Futurama has been a big surprise, nearly selling out the first shipment.

Better selling than the Criterion Beastie Boys dvd? That had people who were fans of the Beastie Boys and Criterion collectors after it.

Last time I checked the beastie boys criterion collection was not a Box Set.

In anycase a lot of these "fastest selling ____" or "best selling ___" are just ways to market it. take it as that or should we really believe that Saving Private Ryan is really limited?

I think the Metallica DVD's are the best selling music DVD's...I sell them all the time where I work.

this set had sold over 500,000 in the 1st week. pretty big numbers for a music boxed set. I haven't seen week #2 rankings.

I just want to add that I just finished watching it last night and I loved it. When the last episode ended I shut off the DVD player and American Idol popped on... the contrast made me want to cry.

Until I watched it last week, I always felt guilty for not picking it up on laserdisc (couldn't afford it back then). The DVD has more than made up for that oversight.

Whether or not it is the best selling boxset.... it should be.

Started out with about 20 @ my local Best Buy. I noticed this week there are only 2 left. I say it's selling pretty good here.

Regardless of whether it's the fastest selling or best selling, it's certainly the best music box set I've seen yet on DVD (IMHO, of course).

I love how so many response are "I saw 10 at my local walmart two weeks ago and today there is just one.. so it has to be a good selling disc thingy"

I think using one store to judge sales is pretty silly to begin with.
