I have very high hopes for this, but Edward Zwick the director is very hit and miss... mostly miss... I hated The Seige... Hopefully this movie will make me sing his praises...

I was interested in this film before the trailer and this little teaser trailer makes me more interested the film and Tom Cruise has been doing great things lately with Minority Report and Vanilla Sky. This December is looking good.

Looks extremely ridiculous to me....
It's as if Cruise woke up one morning, and though to himself "hey, I would be cool as a samurai! I'm Tom Cruise after all".....He then called his agent, told him about his epiphany, and instructed him to "make it happen"...

I'm not sure I'm all that excited about this...I think he should have gone with Cold Mountain....and I think the box office returns will agree.....It just sounds, i don't know, terribly hokey....

I'm still really looking forwad to this movie though, & cruise is someone I use to hate but I really think has become a phenomenal actor of the years.

Those who are thinking "Tom Cruise, a samurai? The hell?" might want to check out the plot summary on the page where you can see the teaser...
I dunno about you lot, but that score got me pumped! I want this to big, epic, suck-you-in-and-knock-you-flat stuff. Glory was just that, and I'm sure, given this material, Zwick can repeat.

The film is based on a book that came out a couple of years ago which I have not read, but is supposed to be excellent. I flipped through it and quickly realized it had more allegience to the myth of the samurai (w/ lots of references to Kurosawa and his movies) than to historical samurai. I think this will be an excellent actioner w/ tons of homage to Kurosawa.
