With the booming DVD industry, do you still goto the theatres or do you wait until it comes to DVD?

i hit the theaters aporximatly once a week ... currently in the chicago area new features are between $6.00 - 8.50 per ticket. i have made my self a promise that if it ever hit $10.00 ticket price i will no longer go to the theater. i will only buy DVDs at that point.
but thats just me

I wasn't going even before DVDs boomed.
A.) There isn't that much worth seeing
B.) I am too poor.
C.) It will eventually come onTV DVD.
EDIT: I go when I get free passes, when friends want to see the big shows (LOTR, SW, etc.,) or when there is something good at the $1 theater.

I love going to the movies, but I very rarely go nowadays, and only for certain movies. Last time I went to the movies was for LOTR:TTT. Next time I go, it'll probably be for Matrix Reloaded. Next time after that will probably be for Matrix Revolutions and LOTR:ROTK.
$6.50 for the matinee, dealing with other people talking and farting in the theatre. I find I'm enjoying movies in my own home. I'll only go if I absolutely can not wait for it to hit DVD.

Through my university I pick up unrestricted tickets for $6.50 a piece, that includes evenings and new shows... and I probably see 75% of the movie I want to see in the theatre first, even if my wife doesn't want to see them, I just call a friend and we go. Of those movie about 80% are during the summer. Gotta do something inbetween semesters.

This may be a dumb question but I'm just curious....
With enough money, is there a special program or service you can buy that will allow you to get the movie you want immediately after being released in theaters? I'm not talking about bootlegs. I'm talking about a legitimate means of obtaining a copy of the movie on dvd from the studios given the right amount of money offered?

I've really stopped going to the theatres, but then again, I never really went that often in the first place. I probably went only 10 times last year and I think I only saw 4 movies (AOTC, Goldmember, Die Another Day, and TTT). All of those I saw more than once. But I usually wait until a movie gets released on DVD, or until our library picks it up .

I only go to the theatre when a "big scale" movie comes out e.g. "LOTR" or "Spiderman". It's weird to explain but movies with big scenery I tend to see first at a movie theatre.
The rest I rent or buy on DVD. The advantage mostly in pausing the movie if I gotta pee

I go to movies that should be seen on a big screen. Otherwise, I wait. My daughter and her friends though . . . almost every weekend.
