It sucks that they had to screw up the widescreen in parts 2 and 3. Here are a couple of pics I took of part 3 on my computer. The first is a P&S VCD of part 3, the second is the same scene from the WS DVD.

Pretty sad.

Uhh... isn't that just a matter of the open-matte on the P&S version?

I'm not sure if I see much of a real problem here...
(I actually think the framing on the widescreen image looks better, which makes sense of course, because that's how the director would've intended it to look).

Actually, the director would have intended you to see what you see in the P&S version, plus more on each side, not zoomed in and cropped.

it was an error with the widescreen transfer. the manufacturer knows and they're currently asking retailers not to replace them until the new presses are released. Apparently it only happened with the first batch.

Another question....does this DVD have DTS sound?

i still think the transfer looks good. and unless you are a real die hard BTTF fan you really don't notice it much. As long as you have seen the movies, in my opinion, it all still makes sense and looks good.

evidence, please? as far as i can tell, the "framing issues" are just that -- issues with framing. in short, the movies were incorrectly matted. i'd hate to imagine how terribly open some shots would look if what you say is true.
