PS2 hard drive
I hope this isn't old news. Reportedly Sony has stopped production on the hard drive. There plan is to let users buy there own PC hard drive, essentialy taking the gamble out of it. If they don't manufacture a hard drive, they won't have a warehouse full
of them if they don't sell, which if you go by history, peripherals have never sold well ie. power glove, sega CD, sega 32 X, and so on. You have to get the network adapter, because thats where the port to connect the hard drive will be. I work for a game store and this is what I've been told to tell customers. The network adapter will also be produced in very limited quantity right off the bat, I was told by the Sony representative that it would pretty much be pre order only. Hope this helps someone.

Hadn't heard this myself and I am a bit skeptical since Sony would not be making money off both the drive and adapter. If it's true that would be great though, who doesn't have an extra HDD or 5 sitting around.

I've got trouble believing this. I'd imagine most consumers would have no idea about setting jumpers. Second, how do you format the drive? What type of file structure should it use? I doubt it'd be NTFS of FAT32. It would be interesting but I just don't know. More likely I'd tend to believe that if Sony is unwilling to make a HDD themselves, that the HDD would just be scrapped. However, since FFXI requires it, I doubt this would occur.

I find it hard to believe also. I'm just doing the relay, it makes sense on one end and it doesn't on the other. Guess we'll have to wait and see. Maybe my company is a propanda spreading nazi, all possibilities seem likely!
