Nintendo wants to release Seaman onto your 3DS
From www.nintendojo.com:
Seaman Swims to GameCube Waters
German gaming site GameFront is reporting that Vivarium, the team behind the popular Seaman title available for Dreamcast and PS2, is up to something fishy regarding Nintendo's two next-gen consoles. It appears that the man-fish is gettin his very own title emphasizing the link-up between GCN and GBA.
Since GameFront's site is completely in German, we've translated the news story for your knowledge-seeking pleasure:
GAMECUBE: Vivarium plans a new Seaman episode for the Gamecube, which links itself with the Game Boy Advance. It concerns a completely new game and is not a conversion of the PS2/DC versions.
And that's all we've heard as of this moment. If it's a totally new type of Seaman game, that might mean it could be unrelated to Seaman's current "virtual pet" genre. The original Seaman came bundled with a microphone and was all about speech recognition (ala Hey You, Pikachu, but for a much more mature audience). It pushed the innovation envelope in that area and recieved rave reviews from much of the mass media for such. Whether or not a microphone will be utilized in the GameCube title, it will be interesting to see if Vivarium will grace the GBA/GCN link-up with the same level of innovation as they did the Dreamcast. Then again, the Game Boy Advance may just be used for it's cartridge port, so a microphone can be plugged directly into it, who knows.
Assuming the report is accurate, it looks like GameCube owners may be in for some refreshing gameplay in the not-too-distant future. (js)

Well revived again.
12 years later, and it looks like Seaman may be coming to the 3DS.

The game is perfect for a handheld, I would like to get Seaman on my phone.
Edit: Thanks for the thread title update

Nintendo has registered two trademarks in Japan that sound a heck of a lot like a certain man-faced fish from the Dreamcast days. Mysterious Partner: Legend of the Fish With A Human Face and Mysterious Pet: Legend of the Fish With A Human Face are the two terms in question, and when we hear the term "fish with a human face," Seaman is the first aqua-dude that springs to mind.
There have been murmurs in the past of a Nintendo-fueled Seaman revitalization on the 3DS, the most recent being a Nikkei report from February of last year. The report posited that a Seaman revival was the first step in a larger Nintendo master plan to revive defunct competitors' products on the 3DS.
Since then, Seaman creator Yoot Saito has designed Aero Porter (as part of Guild01) for Nintendo's handheld. He also tweeted a picture of a Santa-themed Seaman about a year ago, which remains as unexplained now as it was the day he posted it.

I never played the original and the sequel was unreleased in the US. They could just do remakes of those and I would be happy.
